The Browns shouldn’t want to waste any time finding someone to play opposite Jabaal Sheard on the defensive line. According to reports out of Chicago and re-broadcast by the Plain Dealer, the Browns are looking at Jeremy Mincey most recently from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mincey had 8 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and an interception in 2011 for the Jaguars. It was his fourth year in the league and second as a full-time player.  Mincey played two years at Florida for Urban Meyer after starting at a junior college. He is listed at 6’3″ and 270 pounds. The Bears are also reportedly pursuing Mincey. [Related: Peyton Hillis to visit Chiefs]

According to New Era Scouting’s Matt Miller, the Browns won’t be pursuing Matt Flynn when free agency hits later this afternoon- “Hearing from two sources that #Browns are not players for Matt Flynn. Take it for what’s its worth.” The teams that are ‘in’ on Flynn according to Miller are Seattle and Miami- “More Matt Flynn news, apparently Seattle and Miami are...

Hillis drama continues into free agency

Say this for Peyton Hillis: His saga has been as consistently bizarre this offseason as it was during the 2011 season. The end result: Barring a late surprise, Hillis will test his value on the free agent market before deciding if he wants to return to the Cleveland Browns. Then its up to the Browns to decide if they want him back, how much they want to pay him and whether his...

Browns release veteran G Eric Steinbach

The Cleveland Browns have released guard Eric Steinbach, who missed last season following back surgery. Steinbach underwent an operation to fix a back disc in August and sat out his fifth season with Cleveland. He was scheduled to make $6 million in 2012. His release will give the Browns more room under the salary cap. They opened free agency about $17 million under the cap. The...

First things first for the Cleveland Browns free agency

A lot of the talk about the Cleveland Browns over the past few days has been about the NFL draft and not getting Robert Griffin III. The only problem is free agency is what the Browns need to be worried about next as it starts on March 13th at 4PM eastern. A large part of what will happen in the NFL draft on April 26th will be dictated by what needs the Cleveland Browns can fill...

Hillis gone to Chiefs, good riddance

Hillis has run for greener pastures One year ago at this time, I would have said there was a .005% chance of me ever writing the headline (and certainly not in one year’s time), “Hillis gone to Chiefs, good riddance.”  Yet, here we are on the eve of March Madness, and that thought is the first and only thing that comes to mind upon reading Espn’s report that Hillis agreed...

Jags Stuck in Neutral

The Jaguars aren't going to have people beating down the doors of the ticket office after staying mostly dormant early on in the free agency process.

Jacksonville Jaguars 2012 Mock Draft: A Full 7-Round Look

The Jaguars were a very up and down team in 2011, but they were also a very surprising team throughout the season despite a losing record. The Jags MUST provide quality upgrades on offense this season if they are to keep up competitively, and they also must significantly upgrade their pass-rushing department if they are to even stand a chance against the more prolific offenses of...
