NFL teams can begin placing the franchise tag on their players starting Tuesday of next week. One potential high profile player that was scheduled to become a free agent next month, won’t be hitting the market according to sources, Denver Broncos LT Ryan Clady. It’s believed that the Broncos will use the tag on Clady and then begin talks to get a long-term deal in place before the start of the regular season. Clady has been a fixture on the Broncos offensive line since being drafted in 2008, never missing a game. This season he helped to keep quarterback Peyton Manning upright, allowing just one sack all season. His franchise tag comes with an expected value of $9.6 million for next season. The two sides tried to work out a deal prior to the start of the 2012 season but talks broke down and the parties decided to table talks until the end of the season. Despite placing the franchise tag on Clady, another team could make an offer, but would have to surrender two number one draft pick...
