The Indianapolis Colts just got a little faster at the wide receiver position. The team announced on Monday evening that the team has agreed to a deal with former Oakland Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey. The former first-round selection had visited the Colts last week and also visited with the Detroit Lions, a team he called ‘appealing’.
Ian Rapoport reports the deal is worth $3 million with a $1.5 million dollar signing bonus. The contract is for one year.
It is expected the Heyward-Bey will start opposite veteran Reggie Wayne and his addition gives the Colts and quarterback Andrew Luck a vertical downfield threat.
It was believed that Heyward-Bey was starting to reach his potential after the 2011 season. He recorded 64 receptions and fell just short of the 1,000-yard mark while adding four scores. The Raiders decided against bringing him back after a disappointing 2012 campaign. Last season, Heyward-Bey logged just 41 receptions for 606 yards but set a career mark in touchdow...
