NFL Legend Has Strong Opinion On Denver Broncos’ QB Bo Nix
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

When the Denver Broncos took Bo Nix with the 12th overall pick of the NFL Draft late last month, some thought that they reached a bit too far.

Then, it was revealed that Broncos head coach Sean Payton actually had Nix as the third-ranked quarterback on his draft board behind Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels, which had some people scratching their heads.

Others, however, completely understand it.

Take legendary NFL signal-caller Kurt Warner, for example.

During a recent appearance on The Fantasy Footballers podcast, Warner had high praise for Nix and seems to think the University of Oregon product is very NFL-ready.

“I looked at the Bo Nix tape and said if there was one quarterback that was asked to do more of what you’re going to be asked to do at the NFL level than any of the other guys, it was Bo Nix,” Warner said.

Nix is coming off of a spectacular 2023 campaign in which he threw for 4,508 yards, 45 touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 77.4 percent of his throws. He also rushed for 234 yards and six scores.

The 24-year-old began his collegiate career at Auburn back in 2019 and spent three years there before transferring to Oregon in 2022.

He enjoyed an impressive debut season with the Ducks, totaling 3,593 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven picks while completing 71.9 percent of his throws. In addition, he registered 510 yards while reaching the end zone 14 times on the ground.

In spite of Nix’s eye-popping numbers, many have questioned whether or not his game will translate on to the NFL level and have specified that he didn’t play against great competition in the Pac-12.

Still, it’s hard to ignore what Nix achieved the last couple of seasons, and for someone like Warner to be that impressed, Nix must have something going for him.

It also should be noted that Payton is known for his terrific work with quarterbacks, particularly for what he did with Drew Brees with the New Orleans Saints.

Nix will more than likely be the Broncos’ starting quarterback come Week 1, as Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson are the only other options.

Plus, unlike someone like, say, Drake Maye, Nix appears very polished, so he may very well make a seamless transition into the pros.

We’ll see if Bo Nix is able to make Denver forget about all of the ugly years it has endured under center since Peyton Manning retired following the 2015-16 campaign.
