This Monday night will see a matchup between my favorite team, the Bears, and one of my least favorite teams, the Cowboys. Forgive me as this is my first piece of writing about the NFL. Any comments are welcome, both positive and negative… both help. So, my hunch is that this is going to be a fantastic game. Let’s see if I can back this up with some stats. Looking at something so simple as Net Points can be informative, or at least, give you a general idea about what a team is doing. The Bears’ net pts are 24, 7th best in the NFL. The Cowboys, however, are at -7. Perhaps this matchup is not as great as I would have thought? I’m not yet ready to come to that conclusion yet…. The obvious similarity is the two team’s records, which if you were judging it on that, is probably pretty misleading right now after only 3 games. I am going more by my preseason expectations still. Obviously a strength of the Cowboys is the great QB Tony Romo (well, statistically speaking, he’s pretty good). B...

Bears Could Be Without Forte and Bush, Which Means Bell Must Step Up

Running back Matt Forte reportedly has made progress with his ankle injury, but he is likely going to sit Monday night out so he can get back to 100%. Michael Bush took Forte’s spot in the starting lineup against St. Louis (18 rushes, 55 yards, one td), but he too is reportedly dealing with an injury of his own. Bush wouldn’t confirm the reported injury in his AC joint in his...

Cowboys looking to give Jenkins playing time

IRVING Mike Jenkins was a hot topic at Jason Garrett's press conference Thursday at Valley Ranch. The Cowboys coach gave several lengthy answers to questions regarding the recent play of the veteran cornerback. The former first-round pick had shoulder surgery in January, watched the Cowboys spend 50 million in free agency on a starting cornerback and then draft another one...

Why Bears’ Jay Cutler will never be a leader

Ok, perhaps I am rushing to judgment being that it is only Week 3 in the 2012 NFL season, but the Chicago Bears being manhandled by a division rival in the manner they were on two Thursday night’s beckons the immediate call for questioning at the helm of their offense. Jay Cutler’s performance was abysmal and truly there is no one else to blame except the signal caller himself...

Cowboys defense bailed out offense in Week 3

As we look at the defense week after week, it is important that we keep a close eye on their progress and while noting that the caliber of opponent and quarterback is a very important consideration, we also don't want to minimize a gradual, but physical domination like we saw against Tampa Bay. The Cowboys took a step back against Seattle, and all week you would think that...

Michael Bush reportedly has a shoulder injury

According to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune, Bears running back Michael Bush has a shoulder injury. It’s reportedly his AC joint that’s been affected. McClure says that Bush wouldn’t confirm the injury. We’ll monitor his status leading up to this week’s game.

Chicago Bears Game Plan: Week 4 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Three weeks into the 2012 season and the Bears' offense is amongst the worst in the NFL and on Monday Night will face one of the best defenses.  The Dallas Cowboys lead the league in total defense, and are second overall in pass defense and are likely to be more than up to the task of shutting down the Bears. What will it take for the Bears to find some semblance of offensive...

Monday Musings: 5 thoughts on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' loss to the Dallas Cowboys

1. Ever since Josh Freeman was drafted in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft, fans have debated whether or not they think he is a franchise quarterback. In 2010, he certainly looked the part. Last season, Freeman struggled and people starting to doubt his skills. This offseason, Freeman lost over 25 pounds and appeared more dedicated than ever to being a quality signal caller...

Melissa Rycroft Hot Chick of the Day (Pictures)

Today's hot chick is Melissa Rycroft from Dallas, Texas. She is a reality television contestant and former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.  She was on the cast of Dancing with the Stars and made this seasons All Star cast by winning her season of the show.  She should be one of the last girls standing with her dancing background and hottness to woo the crowd to vote for her. ...

Cowboys' offensive line under the microscope

The Cowboys are tied atop the NFC East with the Eagles and Giants with a 2-1 mark. But they are not under any illusions that they are playing good football. The Cowboys offense has struggled the past two weeks in a 27-7 loss to the Seahawks and a 16-10 victory against the Buccaneers. The offense has scored just two touchdowns the past games mainly because the offensive line has...

Podlesh talks referees

Bears player representative Adam Podlesh talked today about the potential return of the regular NFL referees and the end of the shoddy officiating that has plagued the league through three weeks.

Week Three Grades, Chicago Bears Edition

By Zack Pearson Chicitysports.com (Special to Bearsbacker.com) A win is a win, and they don’t always look good. Well at least the offensive side of the ball didn’t look to shining during Sundays 23-6 win over the Rams. It wasn’t impressive for the offense, but they got the job done the old fashion way with defense. The Bears defense completely dominated the Rams, holding them...

Forte back on practice field; expects to play

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte is known as a fast healer. That became evident Wednesday when the Bears Pro Bowl back returned to the practice field after suffering a high ankle sprain in the week two loss at Green Bay. Forte was originally expected to be out 4-6 weeks. While no decision has been made on his status for [...]

Injuries force Cowboys to sign safety Frampton

It's only Week 4, but the Dallas Cowboys have already been forced to sign a free-agent safety off the street. In the past, the Cowboys have had to adjust on the fly because they began the year perilously thin in the secondary. In this case, it's a series of injuries that caused the Cowboys to sign former Vikings special teams ace Eric Frampton to provide depth at the safety...
