NFL 'MNF' Week 8: Detroit Lions vs. Las Vegas Raiders betting picks and preview

The Detroit Lions will play host to the Las Vegas Raiders on "Monday Night Football" this week, and we've got you covered with our betting breakdown and picks for the Week 8 finale. Let's dive into the matchup and find some winning bets along the way.

Detroit Lions vs. Las Vegas Raiders betting odds and preview

Spread: Lions -7, Over/under: 46.5, Moneyline: Lions -350 | Raiders +280

This is a matchup between two teams looking for bounce-back performances after blowout losses in Week 7. The Lions, after a 5-1 start to the season, got their doors blown off by the Baltimore Ravens in a 38-6 drubbing, and the Raiders were embarrassed by Tyson Bagent and the Chicago Bears in a 30-12 loss.

The good news for Las Vegas is quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will be back on the field after missing Week 7 due to a back injury. Brian Hoyer threw for just 129 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns in relief last week, so Raiders fans will be glad to see their starter back under center.

Detroit's injury report isn't looking as good. Running back David Montgomery and guard Jonah Jackson have already been ruled out, center Frank Ragnow is doubtful to play and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is now questionable due to an illness. If St. Brown can't play, the Lions offense will revolve around rookie RB Jahmyr Gibbs and WRs Josh Reynolds, Jameson Williams and Kalif Raymond.

'Monday Night Football' betting picks

Under 46.5 (-105 FanDuel)

It's always scary to click submit on an under for a Lions home game, but all signs are pointing toward a low-scoring battle on "MNF." The Raiders rank 26th in the NFL in yards per play, 27th in red-zone touchdown percentage and 31st in offensive DVOA. You might think those numbers are skewed by Garoppolo missing three games, but the Raiders are averaging just 16.6 points per game in his five starts.

On the other side, the Lions might be missing their two most effective weapons on offense. Montgomery is out, and even if St. Brown suits up, he won't be operating at 100 percent. This won't be the same Lions offense we've gotten used to on their home field.

Jameson Williams over 24.5 (-110 FD)

The Lions are slowly working Williams back into the fold after he missed the first four games of the season, and the speedy wide receiver tallied a season-high 33 snaps and six targets in Detroit's loss to the Ravens in Week 7. With St. Brown dealing with an illness, Williams should be more involved in the passing game than he's been in any game this year.

We know Williams is a deep threat who can go over this number on one catch, so we'll take the over and hope Detroit starts featuring him down the field.
