Barkevious Mingo, the sixth-overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft, is unlikely to suit up for his first ever Opening Day as he continues to recover from a bruised lung. Browns LB Barkevious Mingo unlikely to play opener vs. Miami due to bruised lung. He's probable for week 2 vs. Balt. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 29, 2013 ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Mingo, added as one of the many weapons the Browns have to get to the opposing quarterback, is not likely to see the field until the team plays the Ravens in Baltimore during Week 2. Mingo suffered a bruised lung in the team’s second preseason game and has just started to being running and weight-lifting. It was initially believed that Mingo would merely miss a couple of weeks, but the injury had not healed as quickly as hoped. The Browns will have to release an official injury report early next week as they gear up for their September 8 contest against the Miami Dolphins. It is expected that linebackers Jabaal Sheard and Paul Kruger will carry a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to the outside linebacker spot with Quentin Groves providing relief off of the bench.
