Found February 22, 2013 on Waiting For Next Year:
Speaking at the NFL Combine on Friday morning, new Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski said he was “excited” about second-year quarterback Brandon Weeden. Chud said “I’m excited about Brandon.” Said need to see him out on field & evaluate more to know if Weeden will be starter. — Nate Ulrich (@NateUlrichABJ) February 22, 2013 Despite said excitement, Chudzinski stuck to the team’s mandate about not naming one of last season’s first-round draft selections the unchallenged starter, stating that “competition makes everyone better.” Chudzinski touted Weeden’s strong arm and throw-making ability as well as his calm in-pocket demeanor. Inconsistency, however, remains the outstanding issue as the quarterback was wildly so in his rookie season in the NFL. “We’re going to put the best guy out on the field who gives us the best chance to win,” said Chudzinski. In 2012, Weeden completed 57 percent of his passes for 3,385 yards, 14 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. The team, who will reportedly bring in another player to challenge Weeden, continues to be linked to other quarterbacks like San Francisco’s Alex Smith and Miami’s Matt Moore. NFL News: Browns unlikely to meet Josh Cribbs’ asking price

This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise for anyone as free agency kicks off soon. But we finally got one of our most severe indications than one of the best post-expansion Browns might soon be leaving Cleveland. NFL.com reported earlier Saturday afternoon that the Browns are unlikely to meet the asking price of 29-year-old Joshua Cribbs. According to a source close to the...

Rob Chudzinski doesn’t rule out trading Brandon Weeden or Colt McCoy

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski wouldn’t rule out the possibility of trading Brandon Weeden and/or Colt McCoy. “We’re looking to improve our team in any areas, by any means of doing that,” said Chudzinski. Chudzinski stressed that they want to see all of their quarterbacks on the field competing. “We have three...

Browns Willing To Listen To Trade Offers For Brandon Weeden & Colt McCoy

Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski told reporters on Friday that they’ll consider trade offers for Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy. “We’re looking to improve our team in any areas, by any means of doing that,” said Chudzinski, via Cleveland Plain Dealer. A report from earlier in the week suggested that the Browns could consider trading Weeden, despite the fact that...

Browns to meet with Josh Cribbs’ agent

Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer reports that the Browns will meet with Josh Cribbs’ agent J.R. Rickert at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. This doesn’t necessarily fly in the face of earlier reports that the Browns were cool on the possibilities of bringing the special teams standout back. It is reasonable for any team to perform their due diligence with all their free...

5 Free Agents The Cleveland Browns Should Target This Offseason

As the 2013 NFL offseason begins, the Cleveland Browns are in the enviable position of being one of the few teams with plenty of room under the salary cap. As a matter of fact, they are second in the NFL only to Cincinnati in terms of cap room. And while new owner Jimmy Haslam III has publicly stated that the team won't be 'big spenders' during this free agency period...

Rod Chudzinski won’t rule out trading Colt McCoy or Brandon Weeden, thinks Norv Turner can help Weeden

It’s not a very well kept secret that the Cleveland Browns aren’t enamored with either Colt McCoy or Brandon Weeden. Coach Rod Chudzinski spoke at the combine and sounded very much like a coach still in search of his quarterback. When asked if he was open to trading either of his two quarterbacks, Chudzinski replied: "We’re looking to improve our team in any areas...

Browns plan to meet with Josh Cribbs during combine about possibility of re-signing him

Josh Cribbs has been critical in his assessment of how he’s been used offensively by the former coach Pat Shurmur. He’s told the media other players get opportunities that should rightfully go to him. However, Cribbs will meet with the new staff for the Browns, hopefully to get a more defined role in the offense, and get paid. The three time Pro Bowler wants to be more than a...

“Joe Banner understands the business of football as well as anyone who has ever worked in the NFL”

The more that theoretically legitimate journalistic outlets like Cleveland.com and ESPN Cleveland WKNR continue to treat the Browns’ in-house “reporter” Vic Carucci as anything other than a PR flack, the harder it is to ignore when Carucci says something especially ridiculous. So about the latest from Brownstown’s own Baghdad Bob: The man who was hired by Mike Holmgren in...

Cleveland Sports Life Boat – Browns Head Coaches

I am a huge fan of the Ron and Fez show on Sirius XM Satellite radio. They do a bit on the radio called life boat, and I’m borrowing it for Cleveland sports. Here’s how it works. There are four people and only three seats remaining on the life boat. You must work your way through the list of candidates and, unfortunately, someone is designated to try their hand at long-distance...
