If you thought the NFL replacement referees were bad last Monday night, you weren’t disappointed this week during the regular season. A plethora of  mistakes and bad calls filled the roster of Sunday games. However, the lack of quality officiating was on full display this evening once again on the national stage which showcases America’s Game on the largest stage. Tonight’s Monday Night Football game was determined by the inability of the replacement officials to understand the rules of the game. Seattle Seahawks WR Golden Tate clearly committed offensive pass interference on the last play of the game but somehow came down with the ball in the endzone as the final clock expired and was awarded a game winning touchdown. This game is going to be the poster child for the replacement referees exiting the realm of the NFL. If the replacement referees are not ushered out of the NFL within the next few weeks, the league and Commissioner Roger Goodell are at risk of seeing the NFL product a...

Seahawks WR Golden Tate Says He Pushed Versus Packers But Did Not Cheat

Lol. I swear, I fell out when I read this.  I know it’s not proper journalistic etiquette to start an article off laughing. Sorry. Where was I? The Seattle Times is reporting that Golden Tate has chosen to come clean. He admits to grotesquely pushing off in the Seattle Seahawks‘ controversial victory over the Green Bay Packers on Monday night. “I’m not going to...

NFC West Beat: Seattle is Cheating, but Does Goodell Care?

There are a lot of things we could talk about in the NFC West this week. San Francisco lost to the Vikings and Arizona dominated the Philadelphia Eagles. In a regular week, these would be some of the top headlines.Week 3, however, was not a regular week. One play of the Seattle Seahawks game against the Green Bay Packers has stolen the spotlight from the other three teams in the...

For Pro Sports Commissioners, It’s Lonely At The Top

Right now, it’s safe to say there’s no love lost between NFL fans and Commissioner Roger Goodell. Everything came to an apex on Monday night, when the replacement referees — who were already drawing ire thanks to being thrown into the biggest stage in the world, a stage they were in no way prepared for — [...]The post For Pro Sports Commissioners, It’s Lonely At The Top...

Twitter Uproar Amid Controversy

A Wisconsin politician Tweets commissioner Roger Goodell's phone number, saying this season will be a "joke" if a deal isn't struck with the real referees. Meanwhile, the Packers aren't the only ones ripping the league and the replacement refs 140 characters at a time.

PACKLASH: People On Twitter Really, Really, Really Hate Roger Goodell

You’ve seen the video by now. I won’t pretend that there’s anyone out there who hasn’t. Green Bay Packers defensive back M.D. “20/20” Jennings clearly intercepted Russell Wilson’s hail mary pass as the clock expired in last night’s Monday Night Football game against the Seattle Seahawks. Even my brother, a diehard Seahawks fan, texted me as the world was going nuts...

Roger Goodell needs to end this lock out with the real referees before someone gets hurt! Roger Goodell and the NFL has begun levying fines against the coaches for mistreating the replacement referees, starting with Denver Head Coach, John Fox and Defensive Coordinator, Jack Del Rio, $30,000 and $25,000, respectively. After this weekend, expect to see more coaches fined for mistreating...

The straw that broke the camel’s back

After an atrocious week of officiating I speak for everyone when I say, “The time to get rid of the replacement officials is now!” I literally saw messed up calls in every single game this week, some worse than others. I saw wrong spots on penalties, a hospitalized player on a helmet to helmet with no flag, not reviewing replay properly on a challenge, wrong calls and the list...

SteelDad Breaks Down the Inaccurate Reception

First and foremost, I am Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan. That also makes me a football fan. I have played and watched and coached a lot of football in my many years on this rock so while that doesn’t necessarily make me an expert, I do feel a certain amount of expertise. I feel, therefore, it’s my duty to break down this play in the only way I can and that means as sarcastically...

Seattle Seahawks, Replacement Referees Make Great Team

It was fourth and last chance, throw it up, and pray. I had all but turned the television off, exasperated at another chance for Seattle to make a statement on a national stage.I watched helplessly as Russell Wilson scrambled right, perform the five d's of dodge ball, dodge, duck, dip, dive, dodge, and throw a bomb to the back left corner of the end zone.Who would have known...

NFL reaches tentative agreement with refs

NEW YORK (AP) -- The NFL and the referees' union have reached a tentative contract agreement, ending an impasse that began in June when the league locked out the officials and used replacements instead. The NFL said it planned to have regular refs work Thursday night's Cleveland-Baltimore game. With Commissioner Roger Goodell at the table, the sides concluded two days of...

The NFL Should Over-rule Their Own Refs

The "Monday Night Mugging."  Like all notoriously controversial plays, this play needs a nickname.  So it won't be forgotten.  So it goes down as a black mark, as an asterisk, in the annals of NFL history. In fact, if the NFL has any integrity, they should retroactively change the result of the Packers-Seahawks game tonight.  The job of the NFL is to ensure the...

NFL To Address Hail Mary Call Today

The NFL will address the controversial call that ended the Seattle Seahawks' 14-12 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday, Steve Wyche of NFL Network reports. The Seahawks won the game on a 24 yard Hail Mary Pass from Russell Wilson when the officials ruled that Seahawks receiver Golden Tate and Packers defensive back M.D. Jennings simultaneously caught the ball despite...

NFL, Referees Reach Agreement; Refs Back On Field Thursday

The NFL and the NFL Referees Association reached an agreement late Wednesday night on an eight-year collective bargaining agreement, subject to ratification by the NFLRA. The agreement comes almost exactly 48 hours after the highly controversial ruling that decided Monday's game between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks. The two sides agreed to create a developmental...

Prideful or Shameful Win? One Answer

A night that was supposed to go down in history as one of the greatest regular season finshes ever has been clouded in drama and controversy. Everywhere you turned on Tuesday morning was a debate over the final play of last night’s thrilling victory (or is it, say the so-called experts) over Green Bay. It was inescapable; even non-sports fans didn’t hear the end of it. And there...
