It took slightly longer than five minutes, but according to reports, the St. Louis Rams have hired former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. Ryan met with the Rams earlier in the week, but came out of the meeting without a contract. This evening, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports on Twitter that the Rams have in fact hired Ryan.
It is believed that the young, aggressive Rams defense will continue to run a 4-3 base scheme although Ryan is known for running the 3-4 alignment.
The Rams have built the foundation of a very talented defense, leading the league in sacks last season with 52. Robert Quinn and Chris Long both recorded double digit sack totals. The secondary was aggressive with rookie CB Janoris Jenkins having a stellar first season.
