My Dear Football Freaks,  I'm not going to fill a page with a ton of redundant stats, I'll just give one example. In 2012, Michael Vick, QB for the Philadelphia Eagles was paid $13.9 Million! That was a drop from his $20 Million in 2011. Even professional football players can receive a pay cut due to less than desirable performances. I'd say that's the only thing they have in common with the Average working Joe, or Jane. I'm positive though, with a good calculator he can create a new budget and still be able to live the lifestyle he's accustomed to.Please spare me the "Early Retirement due to Injury" excuses. Most people will not earn in a lifetime what these players do in a year. With the right discipline, even with a retirement at age 40, deposits into the Bank of Ball-Land can last a lifetime. Most players also receive a pension. The NFL started a pension plan in 1959. To be eligible, you have to had played four years in the league and only three years after 1992. The monthly pension is based on the number of years played in the NFL. Darrell Green (Washington Redskins 1983-2002) receives approximately $70,000 a year (or $290 a month for each season he played). The average income for an American family is $50,000. So, even in retirement these players are drafting more cash than the average family. For the love of the game - is it really? You might not be a Tom Cruise fan, but Jerry Maguire summed it up with "Show me the money". If it was for the love of one's childhood team, drafts wouldn't exist. Players would stay devoted to one team their whole career. But that doesn't happen, they're set up on display just looking for the highest bidder like a ho on Hollywood Blvd - but legal. A quick change of a hat or jersey and everyone seems surprised they've chosen a certain team - not me. Cha-ching baby, that ass is for sale!Sincerely,Sweetheart
