Week 8 in the NFL is in the books, so it’s time for another batch of NFL Power Rankings (slightly delayed due to Hurricane Sandy). Here is how the NFL teams are ranked heading into Week 9. 32. Kansas City Chiefs They still have not held a lead during regulation time. That is the epitome of bad. 31. Jacksonville Jaguars Going to Green Bay is tough. Throwing to Justin Blackmon when he doesn’t run his routes is just stupid. 30. Cleveland Browns A good win against a good team yesterday. Still, most people are more inclined to believe that the Chargers just choked. 29. Carolina Panthers Everyone knew that the Bears defense would make a play eventually. Cam Newton deserved better from his receiver. 28. New Orleans Saints They are making the Bills look like the ’85 Bears. That is saying quite a bit. Will they win again this year? 27. Oakland Raiders Back to back games barely beating bad teams doesn’t make you a good team. It just means you aren’t the worst. 26. Cincinnati Bengals The Bengals didn’t lose last week. Can they keep it going for a second straight week? 25. St. Louis Rams That was the team that everyone expected to see. The Patriots may still be scoring in London. 24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Another win or two could promote them higher in the power rankings. However, it’s hard to rate a team high when everyone else has the same record. 23. Buffalo Bills Ryan Fitzpatrick didn’t throw a pick last week. Of course, they didn’t play last week either. 22. San Diego Chargers You could make a case that they deserve to be ranked much lower. However, they are still a team that could make the playoffs. 21. Tennessee Titans If the Titans are smart, Jake Locker will not be at quarterback when he his healthy. If not for some bad play calling, they could have won three in a row. 20. New York Jets Nine points against the Dolphins? Sanchez looked like Tebow out there. No, that is not a compliment by any means. 19. Philadelphia Eagles Did anyone really think they deserved to be 3-1 just a few weeks ago? I didn’t think so. 18. Dallas Cowboys Not many quarterbacks can throw for over 400 yards and four interceptions in one game. Oh yea, they almost won yesterday. 17. Washington Redskins They got trounced Sunday. Is DeAngelo Hall going to be on the team much longer? He seems to better at talking than playing. 16. Detroit Lions Good win Sunday. Still, that team needs to get Calvin Johnson involved in the offense a lot more. 15. Indianapolis Colts Andrew Luck wins his first road game. He is definitely playing better than Manning did his rookie year. It also helps that the schedule hasn’t exactly been brutal. 14. Miami Dolphins Ditto for the Dolphins. Matt Moore doesn’t get nearly as much credit as he should for being such a great leader. 13. Minnesota Vikings That loss at home was inexcusable. However, at 5-3, they are still in the thick of the playoff hunt. That never hurts. 12. Seattle Seahawks Yea, they are 4-4 this season. Yes, they lost Sunday. However, they still have a great chance to win their division. The 49ers look vulnerable right now. 11. Denver Broncos The Saints are terrible. The Broncos took advantage of that terrible defense. Tim Tebow could put up 30+ points against that team. 10. Pittsburgh Steelers It looks like they have finally woken up after seven games. Big Ben looks like his old self. 9. Arizona Cardinals You can’t knock their defense. Alex Smith just had a great game last night. They could still win 9 or 10 games. 8. San Francisco 49ers The Niners need to keep winning if they want to be taken seriously as playoff contenders. However, they play in the perfect division to overcome their adversity. 7. New England Patriots At 5-3, the Patriots aren’t the same team that they were in the past. With that said, they looked good against the Rams in London. 6. Chicago Bears That was close Sunday. They need to get that offensive line problem sorted quickly. 5. Green Bay Packers The same goes for the Packers. Good thing that they were playing the Jaguars on Sunday. 4. Baltimore Ravens Baltimore has had some time to get over the shock of losing Webb and Lewis. Watch them win big next Sunday. 3. New York Giants Are they the best team in the NFC? Only Atlanta has a better record so far this season. They will need to learn not to lean on large early leads. 2. Houston Texans Buffalo should be afraid coming into their game next Sunday in Houston. Adrian Foster could get 400 yards in this one. 1. Atlanta Falcons The last undefeated team in the NFL should always be ranked #1. They are going to be ranked at the top until they show that they don’t deserve it any longer.
