Even Bobby Budnick would salute Cecil Shorts So this is the last edition of “NFL Real Talk” for the 2012 fantasy football season (cue the song “Taps”). With this week marking the deadline to make trades (in most leagues) and the final set of byes, the matchup and buy/sell portions of this piece will be irrelevant. And let’s be honest, if at this stage of the season you still need someone to tell you what to do, you probably aren’t winning a championship anytime soon. It’s always sad penning the last article of a season... wait, that’s entirely false. It’s actually really awesome because it gives me more time to make babies and wrestle bears for sport. On that note, so long suckas. More after the jump: Sell-ery (or, “These Guys Suck But Still Have Value, So Trade Them To Some Moron”)Hakeem Nicks Coming off a nine-catch, 75-yard performance in Week 10, Nicks is a prime trade candidate. He’s a supreme talent when he’s healthy. Problem is, he’s not. If you’v

After the fall through, the UFL still helps one player get to the NFL

Yesterday the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Greg Jones, a sixth-round pick of the Giants in 2011, actually opened his rookie year as a starter. But he was quickly demoted, finished out the year as a special teamer and was then released at final cuts. Jones will be depth behind Paul Posluszny in Jacksonville. This is huge news for Greg Jones, who had a workout earlier this year with...

Alfie Crow is on to something

Early on in my still-young blogging career, I wrote for SBNation's Big Cat Country. The lead manager there, Alfie Crow, is one of the more opinionated Jaguars writers out there, including print newspapers, Jaguars.com, etc. I often disagree with him, but his recent piece detailing why the Jaguars will likely gear up for Gabbert again in 2013 is dead on. Blaine Gabbert...

Jags sign LB Greg Jones, release Armstrong

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed second-year linebacker Greg Jones and released receiver Anthony Armstrong. A sixth-round draft pick by the New York Giants in 2011, Jones played in all 16 regular-season games as a rookie and played in all four postseason games. He was the team's only rookie to start the season opener and was the franchise's...

Week 11 Pass Defense: No Longer Shorts Weather

We’re 11 weeks into the season now and still dealing with bye weeks, but congratulations, this is finally it.  The good news for many fantasy teams is you don’t have to worry about a matchup with the Seahawks.  The bad news is The Titans aren’t there either.  Ok, maybe that isn’t bad news for Miami. If you watched any part of the rainy game in Chicago this past Sunday...

JDub's Fantasy Football Week 11 Predictions -- Defense

Houston’s defense has done great this year, only allowing just under 200 passing yards and 85 rushing yards per game. The Jacksonville Jaguars offense is the worst in the NFL and the Houston defense will allow only two field goals and no touchdowns. They will also pick off Blaine Gabbert twice and they will get 10-15 points.   Week 11 Top 15 Defense: Houston Atlanta Chicago...

JDub's Fantasy Football Week 11 Predictions -- Running Back

Arian Foster is a must-start every week, obviously.   Against this weak Jacksonville Jaguars defense, who average giving up 135 rushing yards a game, expect a big 100+ yard game for Arian. LeSean McCoy is someone who is your first pick and you were looking for him to do better than he has with a disappointing 700 yards and only two touchdowns in nine games. Now he has added in...

However, he looked good Sunday and will have a bye in Week 11 to rest his body. The Giants play some beatable secondaries -- Green Bay...

Fantasy Football: Unusual Suspects Shine in Week 10

A group of relatively unowned players finished among the top scorers from Week 10. But do any of these guys deserve to be owned?WR Danario Alexander, San Diego: Week 10 @ Tampa Bay: 5 receptions, 134 yards, 1 touchdown. .6 percent owned. Rank 2ndThis is only the second game in which Alexander has played in this season, but it's safe to assume, especially after the 80-yard touchdown...

Your Week 10 Early Games Open Thread

Hakeem Nicks has seen his production on the field diminish in 2012 compared to years past, which is something that tends to happen when a receiver sustains a broken bone in their foot just prior to the start of the season. Responding to concerns that he caught only one pass for 10 yards last Sunday and is on pace for his worst season of his NFL career, Hakeem Nicks on Thursday told...
