Justin Blackmon on Cleveland, “It was just a visit.”

After listening to the interview that Adam the Bull and Dustin Fox conducted with Justin Blackmon, I am thinking that he could have been one of the top ten draft picks that didn’t want to come to Cleveland. When asked about his visit to Cleveland, Blackmon first seemed reticent to even acknowledge that he had visited the team. Then when pressed for elaboration, Blackmon told Dustin...

Why do the Browns play the Eagles twice in three weeks?

Something has been staring us all in the face since the NFL schedule came out and I don’t think anyone has brought it up yet. Thankfully for us, we have the benefit of readership that is more observant than we are. We were alerted to the fact that the Browns play the Eagles in the all-important, “dress-rehearsal” third game of the preseason a mere two weeks before the Eagles...

Hey Cleveland Browns fans! Don’t worry about it.

Just a shade over a week remains until the 2012 NFL Draft. And despite all of the talking heads, researchers, analysts, and writers opinions we are still no closer to knowing what the Cleveland Browns will do with their number four over-all pick. Trade up, trade down, pick Blackmon, Richardson, Kalil, Tannehill, Claiborne, or simply give up and go home. Every possibility has been...

“Holy heart failure, Batman!” What are the Cleveland Browns doing in this year’s NFL Draft?

As sidekick Robin said to Batman in the 1960’s hit TV series, “HOLY HABADASHERY BATMAN!” This was essentially the response I had when hearing of the news this weekend of the Cleveland Browns possibly trading down in this year’s upcoming NFL draft. The Cleveland Plain Dealer sites a league source as saying “There’s a decent chance” that the Browns will trade down. The...

If Browns DB Joe Haden Is Eventually Bankrupt Which Car Will He Keep?

Look, we’re not here to tell athletes how to spend their paychecks. It’s their money. Burn stacks of $20s to light water bongs for strippers for all we care. Want to knock up 10 broads and have 12 total kids? Have at it, brah. Want 15 cars that instantly decrease in value? What are you waiting on? Just don’t cry – like Warren Sapp – that you’re broke and it’s either...

Predicting wins and losses is more difficult than the Browns schedule

Remember this one? We used this before predicting the 2010 Browns record. The Cleveland Browns rattled off four wins to end a tumultuous 2009 season. Prior to the four wins the Browns only other win was one of the least entertaining football games I’ve ever watched in my NFL-watching history as the Browns beat the Bills 6-3 in some ridiculous wind. Still, the Browns seemed headed...

Cleveland Browns Clash With Four Playoff Contenders in 2012 Preseason

If the Cleveland Browns want to go toe-to-toe with the upper-echelon teams and compete for postseason contention in the upcoming 2012 NFL season, then it’s probably a good thing the club has a chance to get its feet wet right out of the gate against four potential playoff teams in preseason action. Court won't hear argument over NFL arbitration

The Supreme Court won't hear an appeal from the Cleveland Browns in the team's attempt to force into NFL arbitration a lawsuit by former center LeCharles Bentley over his career-ending staph infection. The high court's decision Monday keeps the case - and lawsuit - in Cuyahoga County court in Cleveland. The team had appealed a July ruling by an Ohio appeals court that...

Browns work out Matt Kalil, rumors heating up Vikings will pass

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, the Cleveland Browns worked out USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil at a private location on Wednesday. They’ve also already hosted him during one of their pre-draft visits. Kalil is expected to be taken third overall by the Minnesota Vikings, but Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com has indicated that he’s hearing more and...

While We’re Waiting… Browns linebackers, defensive metrics and Bradley Beal?

While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com. Good analysis of the Browns LB corps and those available in the draft- “In most respects, the Browns have been victims of poor timing. Two years ago, Eric Mangini and pseudo...

Browns Fans, Are we there yet?

Greetings to all of you loyal, misled, poor tortured souls who call yourselves Cleveland Browns fans.  The light struggles to fight it’s way through the smog, remnants of a history of manufacturing, as the sun rises on another early morning in the city of Cleveland.  Through the haze, one can make out the shadow of Cleveland Browns stadium…one of the saddest, most desolate...

NFL Report: Mike Adams visits Browns and Steelers

This isn’t a surprise at all, but it is the first report we’ve heard that Ohio State offensive tackle Mike Adams has indeed already visited the Browns- “Ohio State offensive tackle Mike Adams has visited the Pittsburgh Steelers, St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions, Buffalo Bills and the Cleveland Browns, according to a league source.” This comes from Aaron Wilson, who writes...
