NFL Responds To Ravens Coach John Harbaugh's Injury Report Comments

The NFL appears to have moved on to other matters after Ravens coach John Harbaugh criticized the injury reporting procedures last week, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports. In the wake of the Ravens being fined $20,000 by the league for failing to list free safety Ed Reed with a torn labrum in his shoulder that didn't sideline him for practices or games and Harbaugh later questioning the validity of the reporting guidelines, the league has responded. "On Coach Harbaugh and the injury report comments, we appreciate his commitment to comply with the injury reporting rules going forward," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello wrote in an email today. Harbaugh increased his injury report to 16 players last week, a much higher number than he had previously listed when he would routinely only note a handful of the most serious injuries. Harbaugh was asked Monday if he had spoken to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who was in town last weekend for a charity event, about the injury report. "I have tremendous respect for commissioner Goodell, and we have talked on the phone many times about different things," Harbaugh said during his weekly press conference. "I have the utmost respect for him, I really do, I think he's doing a great job. He did not ask me about that other thing, and I guess he's not going to now.
