Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders head coach
Jon Gruden is open to returning to the NFL, but only for the right job, ESPN’s
Ron Jaworski said on WPEN-WF Philadelphia on Monday.
"He's had numerous meetings that he's told teams he's
not interested in certain jobs," Jaworski said of his ESPN colleague.
"There are jobs he's interested in, but no one at those teams has reached
out to him, or they may even have a coach in place."
Gruden hasn’t interviewed yet, and it was mostly assumed
that this was due to the fact that he didn’t want to return to coaching. However,
it appears that he would leave the Monday Night Football booth and return with
the right team.
Teams just don’t seem to be showing overwhelming interest in
the Super Bowl-winning coach. The Cleveland Browns were listed as a possibility
to pursue Gruden, but that rumor was shot down yesterday. The Philadelphia
Eagles, another team with a coaching vacancy, aren’t believed to have reached
out to Gruden either.
