The New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles have no love lost for each other. It is what helps make it one of greatest rivalries in the National Football League. Because of that, it was easy for Giants DE Osi Umenyiora and Eagles RB LeSean McCoy to start a war of words off the field. But while Umenyiora did not take the bait from McCoy prior to last week’s 19-17 Philadelphia win over New York, he may be ready to begin a new feud with Trent Richardson of the Cleveland Browns before the two face off for the first time this week. “If [Trent] looks on tape and he thinks he sees some candy, come try and get it,” Umenyiora said Friday. This, of course, is in response to comments made by Richardson earlier in the week. “I think that if we cover the edges and run hard, no doing all this juking and that, one move and go, I think we can have success in the running game,” Richardson said. Now Richardson, mind you, was not singling out any one player for the Giants on defense. he was just stati...

Osi Umenyiora tells Trent Richardson to bring it

Cleveland Browns rookie running back Trent Richardson indicated this week that he sees some holes in the New York Giants defense that he can run the ball through. “I think that if we cover the edges and run hard, no doing all this juking and that, one move and go, I think we can have success in the running game,” Richardson said. Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora wants to see...

Cleveland Browns Film Room: Scripting the Opening Offensive Series

One of the most telling parts of the gameplan will be revealed to open the game. Those are almost always going to be scripted plays to try and set the tone for the whole game. This week, the Browns were pretty successful to open the game, at least for the first few plays as they grabbed a quick first down. Let’s see exactly what they did and what they might have been telegraphing...

McCoy a problem for Piitsburgh D

A happy homecoming for Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy would be sad news for the Pittsburgh Steelers. For the first time since becoming a 2009 second-round draft pick, McCoy will be returning to his old college stadium for Sunday's game against the Steelers (1 p.m. ET, FOX). McCoy says his fondest memory of playing at the University of Pittsburgh was a 183-yard...

Osi Umenyiora to Trent Richardson: "Come & Get It"

Trent Richardson has made a habit of talking a bit of trash heading into games against good defenses. He's exchanged jabs with Rey Maualuga of the Bengals and while I don't see any issues with what he said entering this week's game against the New York Giants, apparently Osi Umenyiora did. Richardson was quoted saying: “I think that if we cover the edges and run hard...

According to beat writer Mary Kay Cabot, Coach Pat Shurmur said Richardson's Week 5 status will not be affected.Fantasy Spin:Through four games, Richardson has 222 rushing yards on 64 carries, 122 receiving yards on 15 catches and four total touchdowns. He's the only reliable...

Giants D-Line making headlines, not plays

For the last few years, one thing has been the mainstay for the New York Giants. A brutal, athletic and punishing front seven, with their defensive line leading the way. But, this year it hasn’t been so. The Giants defensive front, which was a crucial part in their run to a super bowl last season, has been virtually non-existent on gameday, although they haven’t had problems...

Cleveland Browns: Despite 0-5 Start, There's Reason For Optimism

The Cleveland Browns jumped out to a 14-0 lead today, only to be pummeled by the New York Giants 41-27.  This makes the Browns losers of their last eleven games going back to last season.  With that being said, the Browns young players looked really good in a losing effort.Trent Richardson looked like Walter Payton at times with his shifty running his ability to deliver a blow...

Cleveland Browns Film Room: Third Down Controversy

I’m sure some of you are already tired of this and think it is being beaten to death, but I just read on Twitter that Pat Shurmur is still defending the play saying Jordan Norwood was open in the first read. Anyway, I won’t tell you where I stand on it anymore, but it is worth going through the pictures to discuss the progression. First up is the third and one where Trent Richardson...

Browns 27 – Giants 41 – Browns Start Fast, Finish Last

The good news is that the Browns scored two touchdowns in the first quarter. The Browns recovered a fumble deep in Giants territory to open the game and Trent Richardson scrambled 15 yards for the TD. Then Brandon Weeden finally hit a home run pass when he caught Josh Gordon against a linebacker deep for 62 yards and a TD. After that, the Giants started to play like the Giants and...
