On Sunday morning, Michael Lombardi stated on First on the Field, a pre-game show on the NFL Network, that the St. Louis Rams will be shopping several players with the looming trade deadline, could veteran RB Steven Jackson be one of those players? Although Lombardi failed to name names, Jackson’s name has to be in the mix at this point in his career. Jackson, who will be 30 at the start of the 2013 season, is a free agent after this season. One only needs to look around the league to see that once players reach that 30 year benchmark, long term deals are not usually forthcoming. Jackson’s role in the Rams offense has decreased as well this season. He is currently averaging 3.8 yards per carry, tied for the lowest at any point in his career. Jackson has only found the endzone once this season and is splitting carries with rookie Daryl Richardson.
