The Buffalo Bills were one of the three teams that reportedly met with Oregon head coach Chip Kelly on Saturday. The Buffalo Bills also met with former head coach Lovie Smith on Saturday according to numerous reports. The Bills met with another coaching prospect as well on Saturday and were so impressed, they hired him as the Bills new coach for 2013. Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone. ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting this morning via Twitter that the two sides struck a deal early in the morning. Terms have not been disclosed as of yet.
Marrone’s name surfaced just prior to Black Monday as one of the coaching prospects that NFL teams were interested in. While his coaching career is primarily rooted in the college ranks, Marrone has NFL experience. He served as the New York Jets offensive line coach from 2002-2005.
