Found October 23, 2012 on thepigskinreport.com:
The Detroit Lions suffered a pair of difficult losses on Monday Night Football, losing the game to the Chicago Bears, as well as wide receiver Nate Burleson for the rest of the 2012 NFL season after the wide receiver broke his leg following a third quarter catch in the 13-7 loss. That drops the Lions to just 2-4 with a difficult contest next week against the Seattle Seahawks. It is no secret that the Lions have taken a step back this season. Quarterback Matthew Stafford appears to be regressing in 2012 after his break out year in 2011. While Detroit still ranks second in the NFL in passing yards through the first seven weeks of the 2012 season, the results are not translating into wins for the team. While Calvin Johnson is the best wide receiver on the planet, he cannot do it alone, contrary to popular belief. He needs some help. Titus Young and Ryan Broyles will be asked to step up their game the rest of this season, but is it enough? Or will the Lions – who Burleson himself said h...

T.O. takes on diminutive legend in basketball

If the film White Men Can’t Jump taught me anything, it’s that you should never take a Puerto Rican woman on Jeopardy! for granted and people in California take their street basketball very seriously. In fact, if you’re ever hanging around anyone from the Venice Streetball League, no matter what they look like, you probably shouldn’t accept a challenge to play one-on-one...

Nike and Dick’s Sporting Goods commercials with Calvin Johnson and Ndamukong Suh

As I said earlier this morning, it might be time for the Detroit Lions to stop appearing in so many commercials and worry about performing on the field.Following up Matt Stafford’s commercials with ESPN, two more commercials were released today, this time involving wide receiver Calvin Johnson and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.They both appeared wearing some of Nike’s new HyperWarm...

Terrell Owens loses one-on-one game to street ball player Mani Love (Video)

Just when you thought that you had seen it all, this clip comes to light of former NFL star Terrell Owens losing in a game of one-on-one basketball. T.O. didn't lost to just any random fool, he lost to Venice street baller Mani Love who beat him narrowly by the score of 16-15. Now, some of you may ask, what's the big deal? Well, Mani is only 4'5 and TO had nearly...

Calvin Johnson: In Like A Fantasy Lion, Out Like A Fantasy Lame

Coming into the season, Calvin Johnson was the consensus first wide receiver off the board.  Most pundits – including myself though I don’t like calling myself a pundit…feels like I’m calling myself a dirty word – had Calvin in their top 5 overall and coming into tonight, there was still good reason for that type of stature despite the missing touchdowns.  And even after...

Rugged Bears defense holds off Lions 13-7

In a game reminiscent of the old “Black and Blue” days, the Chicago Bears forced three Detroit turnovers in the red zone and held the Lions’ Calvin Johnson en route to a 13-7 victory at Soldier Field Monday night. The Bears improve to 5-1 on the season, and hold a one-game lead in the NFC North over Minnesota. Detroit dips [...]

Lions week 7 review: Defense steps up while offense goes missing

Futile, this is the word I use to describe the Lions offense as the defense was the only aspect to only show up at Solider Field Monday Night. The Lions gave off that same ol’ Lions feel that Detroit fans know all to well with Detroit suffering a 13-7 whooping at the hands of the Bears. Chicago manhandled Detroit from the first snap as Stafford hit Calvin Johnson on a 7 yard curl...

Video: Youth football player pulls a Plaxico

You have to know the rules, and I blame the coaches. It is one thing when Plaxico Burress spikes the ball as a rookie in the NFL when he forgets that he has to be to down by contact. That’s … Continue reading →

Why Alabama freshmen are off-limits to media

The reason why reporters aren't allowed to talk to true freshmen like wide receiver Amari Cooper and running back T.J. Yeldon is all thanks to one of Nick Saban's former players, Plaxico Burress.

Richard Sherman calling himself ‘Optimus Prime’ for matchup with Megatron

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has changed his name on his Twitter profile to “Optimus Prime” ahead of Sunday’s contest with the Detroit Lions, indicating he’s prepared to match up against Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Johnson has gone by the nickname “Megatron” for years. Megatron is a character from the fictional “Transformers” comics, and he...

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears: Three Bold Predictions

Bears and Lions. Doesn’t exactly have the same aura as Bears and Packers but in this day the rivalry is just as big, if not bigger. Although the Bears players have taken the high road when asked about their hatred toward the Lions it no secret there is no love lost here. This Lions bunch has been labeled dirty -- no matter how much fourth-year quarterback Matthew Stafford wants...
