Green Bay -- There is no rule that would prohibit a player from one team giving information to another that would help prepare them for their next opponent, a league spokesman said.
Greg Aiello, senior vice president of public relations, said in an email that there is nothing in the rule books that would make such a conversation illegal.
Aiello was not speaking directly to the report that quarterback Brett Favre had spoken with representatives of the Detroit Lions for at least an hour prior to their game with the Packers. He said was speaking only in general about the rule book.
So far, little has been said today regarding Favre's alleged discussion with the Lions.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he didn't plan to do anything about the reported discussion and refused any further comment.
