Aldon Smith's decision to seek alcohol treatment could work in his favor when the NFL decides whether to suspend him for his off-the-field issues. Speaking to reporters after a forum for European fans, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said that Smith's treatment will be considered when weighing any discipline. "Yes, it will be a factor, for sure," Goodell said. San Francisco's game against Jacksonville at Wembley Stadium will be the fifth straight game Smith, a dynamic pass rusher, will miss. He entered a treatment center Sept. 23, three days after his second arrest for drunken driving since he entered the NFL in 2011. The 49ers are planning to meet with Smith soon and are is hopeful he will return to the team this season. Coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Trent Baalke said the reports of Smith's progress are encouraging and they want to see him make continued progress before coming back to the team. "Certainly, the issue here isn't to disc...

49ers hopeful Aldon Smith will return after bye week

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith has taken some time away from the team to enter a rehab facility and try to defeat his own personal demons and there was no timetable for his return. However in a recent interview 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke said that the team is hopeful Smith could return soon. “Our ultimate goal hasn’t changed: help Aldon get back to a place...

49ers Deliver A Royal Beatdown

The San Francisco 49ers stormed into Wembley Staduium looking to beat the Jacksonville “Juggernauts”, but soley had to face the lowly  Jacksonville Jaguars team that can’t seem to find a way to win. The 49ers not only rolled to a 42-10 victory in the good old UK, but now get to enjoy an off week before returning to Candlestick Park to meet the Carolina Panthers 2 Sundays...

49ers may release Nnamdi Asomugha to clear space for Eric Wright

The San Francisco 49ers acquired defensive back Eric Wright from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past offseason only to rescind the trade literally hours later after Wright was involved in a drunk driving incident. That eventually lead to the Buccaneers releasing Wright soon after allowing the 49ers to pick up Wright for free. Unfortunately for Wright and the 49ers the defensive back...

If Your Not Kaps’ Tats, Then Get Off Kaps’ Back.

Colin Kaepernick has been more then stellar in his first “full” season while passing for 3000 plus yards, with 18 TD’s and a QB rating hovering around 91. Then you factor another 600 yards on the ground at 5 yards a carry and 5 touchdowns. Of course by season I mean 16 full games, a bye week and oh yeah a playoff run with a super bowl appearance. Since becoming the starter...

San Francisco 49ers: The Niners swagger is back

The San Francisco 49ers have got their swagger back. They have won 4 straight games and have done so in dominant fashion. How dominate? Well the Niners have scored 30 points in 4 straight games for the first time since 1998 when Steve Young was their quarterback. They’ve also outscored opponents 132 to 51. That’s dominance. The Niners have done it by playing smash-mouth football...

Will LaMichael James Find His Role in the 49ers’ Offense?

San Francisco 49ers’ running back LaMichael James was one of the nation’s most explosive collegiate players for the prolific Oregon Ducks from 2009 to 2011.  High expectations surrounded James when the 49ers selected him in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft.  But since then, he has received limited playing time partially due to injuries and partially because the...

NFL Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Fabian Truss, RB, Samford

Fabian Truss has grown on me over the past year.  The speedy back who many NFL scouts have compared to “A Bigger Darren Sproles” has been amazing in 2013.  Truss is not just a running back folks, he is an offensive weapon.  Samford uses him on everything, from running the ball, to receiving passes, to […]

49ers Linebacker Aldon Smith Might Not Be Suspended by NFL After Voluntarily Entering Rehab Program

Aldon Smith hasn’t been on the football field for the 49ers since Week 3, and there’s no timeline for his return this season. When he is ready to retake the field, though, there shouldn’t be any delay. Smith checked himself into an aclohol rehabilitation facility in late September, just days after his second drunk-driving arrest in two years. The Pro Bowl pass rusher’s decision...

Pereira breaks down NFL Week 8 calls

OVERSEAS HIJINKS Blimey. The 49ers have done it again. San Francisco ran a hide out play, this time in Jolly old England, against the Jacksonville Jaguars only two plays into their game with the Jaguars at famous Wembley Stadium Sunday. The 49ers did it two years ago on a field-goal attempt and ran it successfully and then they followed it up Sunday with another legal version...

Marcus Lattimore could be cleared to practice in next few weeks

A year after running back Marcus Lattimore suffered a gruesome knee injury that dropped his NFL draft stock and has kept him off the field ever since, it sounds as if he's getting closer to practicing once again. That's what he told The State this week, even though he admitted he doesn't know if he'll play this season for the 49ers. Lattimore had suffered a torn...

49ers win Fifth in a row in London

The 49ers improved to 6-2 on the season by beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 42-10 in London. With the win the 49ers have won five in a row and they have tied a record with the 1994 and 1997 season by scoring 30+ points in five consecutive games. The 49ers won once again behind the running of Frank Gore and Colin Kaepernick and a defense that shut down the Jags offense. Kaepernick...

Gore, like a fine wine, keeps getting better with age

There is no doubt that the San Francisco 49ers are preparing with the future without their star running back, Frank Gore.  It started last season when they incorporated Kendall Hunter and LaMichael James into their potent offense and both had their moments.  In this year’s draft, the 49ers selected Marcus Lattimore from South Carolina but he is not expected to play this season...

Frank Gore Slays Jaguars with 2 TDs

Niners halfback Frank Gore produced another solid fantasy outing Sunday against the Jaguars (19 rushes, 71 yards, 2 TD).Fantasy Spin:Gore doesn't have the jets of a C.J. Spiller or a Chris Johnson but he might be the most consistent running back in the league. He's rushed for at least 70 yards in each of his last six games with six end zone scampers over that span. Fantasy...

Jaguars Run Over By 49ers in London Tilt 42-10

The San Francisco 49ers did not need a huge passing game from Colin Kaepernick. All they needed was his legs. Kaepernick and running back Frank Gore each ran for two touchdowns and the defending NFC Champions ran for 221 yards as a team in a 42-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars 42-10 in London on […]
