Former Houston Texans punter Brett Hartmann has been suspended by the NFL for an additional eight games.
He was already suspended for the first three games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy.
Hartmann was cut during the preseason.
Hartmann was signed by the Texans last year after going undrafted out of Central Michigan.

Maybe Peyton Manning should of stayed injured and retired. Not because he is playing bad currently, Manning Sunday versus the Houston Texans was 25/51 for 310 yards with 2 Tds and no picks. But maybe because Matt Schaub threw for four touchdowns and his Broncos defense is a steaming pile. Houston Texans are the real deal at 3-0, but Denver right now looks like an Arena League...
Fail Mary? The Inaccurate Reception? A Game Winning Touchception?
Those are some of the descriptions used after the Hail Mary pass that allegedly won the game for the Seattle Seahawks Monday night….and a great idea for a Snickers ‘Wanna Get Away’ commercial.
Wisconsin State Senator Jon Erpenbach was so upset with the call that he tweeted out NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s...
Matt Schaub's day started with a sack for a safety and ended with him getting X-rays on his aching left shoulder. In between, an illegal hit from linebacker Joe Mays sent both his helmet and a piece of his ear flying.
Despite the blood, bruises and bumps, Schaub said he felt pretty darn good.
He drew a bombardment of praise for his toughness from his teammates, his coaches...
A Texas coroner says the fan who fell to his death at the Houston Texans' stadium during a preseason game had a blood-alcohol level that was twice the legal limit for driving at the time of the accident.
The Harris County medical examiner's office said Tuesday that an autopsy determined that 25-year-old Jonathon Kelly of Houston died of multiple blunt-force traumas.
Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub has something in common in boxer Evander Holyfield.
Schaub lost a part of his ear in battle after a brutal helmet-to-helmet sack from the Denver Broncos Joe May left him prone on the field after the play was over.
When asked about the play after the game, Schaub who threw four touchdowns during the contest gave the Houston Chronicle a heads...
HOUSTON -- One of the things we know about the nature of existence is that nothing ever lives up to the hype.
If we are, indeed, right about this, the Houston Texans had better start playing poorly, and soon, or we're all going to have an existential crisis on our hands.
The Texans are perfect through three weeks. Perfect in record, and darn close to it in every other way...

Thanks to Cosby Swaeters, via Black Sports Online we got footage of Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub getting laid out during Sunday win over the Broncos. Not only did suffer a shot to the head, he lost a piece of his ear on the play.
Matt Schaub lost part of his ear last night during an illegal hit from Broncos line backer Joe Mays. Somehow Schaub only took off one play after the hit and he was right back in there to lead the Texans to a victory of the Broncos. I've seen the helmet fly off a few times in my day, but never a piece of someones ear. Nasty stuff right there.
DENVER -- Matt Schaub outdueled Peyton Manning even as he fought through a physical pounding that cost him a little piece of his ear. Schaub matched a career best by throwing for four touchdown passes, and the Houston Texans held off the Denver Broncos 31-25 Sunday for the first 3-0 start in the team's 10-year history. Shaking off a sack in the end zone that resulted in...
Matt Schaub lost part of his ear during the Texans' win in Denver on Sunday, and the action isn't going unpunished. Broncos middle linebacker Joe Mays was the guilty party in the gruesome hit that saw Schaub's earlobe cut in half, and now he'll pay the price for his action. Mays will be suspended one game and fined $50,000 for the hit, the NFL announced Tuesday. Mays...
