Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams has been suspended for the first two games of the regular season for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. The league announced the suspension on Friday, nine days before the Vikings open the season at San Diego on Sept. 11. The suspension stems from a failed test three years ago that Williams fought in court. Williams maintained that the banned diuretic was not on the ingredient label of the StarCaps product he was using. Williams eventually gave up the court battle this year, paving the way for the NFL to suspend the former All-Pro defensive tackle. Williams is also dealing with a painful left foot injury, so the suspension could give him a little extra time to heal.
