The NFL season is always loaded with upsets and week one will be no exception as the Kansas City Chiefs will upset the Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcons have high expectations with Matt Ryan under center and two exceptional targets in wide receivers Julio Jones and Roddy White. Meanwhile, Kansas City is expected to struggle in the mediocre AFC West and they will be considered lucky if they make the playoffs.

The NFL oddsmakers don’t feel the same way as they gave the Chiefs plenty of respect by listing the Falcons as just (-2) point favorites over the Chiefs. This shows tremendous respect for how well the Chiefs play at home. The latest spread on the Falcons vs. Chiefs can be found at the top-rated sportsbook BetOnline. The football betting public has pounced on the Falcons and do not predict an NFL upset. The sports betting consensus reports indicate that 80% of the early betting money is coming in on the Falcons. One of the many ways to use the consensus to make money is by fading the public and this is a perfect place to do it.

NFL Upsets: Falcons on Upset Alert Against Chiefs

The Chiefs are a different team under head coach Romeo Crennel. The Chiefs acquired Peyton Hillis in the off-season and along with Jamaal Charles the Chiefs will have a two-headed monster in the backfield.

This will allow the Chiefs to take pressure off Matt Cassel and keep the ball away from the high-octane Falcons offense. When the offense does have the ball, the Falcons will struggle to communicate in the no-huddle with the insane crowd noise. This will lead to added penalties and turnovers putting the Chiefs in a position to win this ballgame.

The defense could be an issue for the Chiefs as Anthony Toribio (ankle) and Glenn Dorsey (knee) and Brandon Flowers (heel) are all banged up, but if they do play there is a very good chance that the Chiefs win in week one.

The Chiefs have consistently been one of the best home teams in football, especially as an underdog. The Chiefs are 17-3 against the spread (ATS) as a home dog in the first four weeks of the season. The Chiefs know how to win at home and match up well against Atlanta. This line is small enough to tempt bettors into taking the Falcons, but don’t do it, the Chiefs win in week one.
