Fans of the Washington Redskins were holding their collective breath on Sunday as rookie QB Robert Griffin III sustained an injury in the final minute of regulation. The Redskins pulled off a win against their Beltway opponent, the Baltimore Ravens in overtime in an unlikely fashion, with another rookie quarterback under center, Kirk Cousins. The status of Robert Griffin III remain uncertain at this time.
Griffin has been a dynamic player this season on the field and has managed to keep the Redskins in the playoff mix. However, an injury to his right knee might put the playoff hopes for Washington in jeopardy in the coming three weeks.
The Baylor product underwent X-rays at the stadium which turned up negative. Griffin underwent an MRI shortly after the game as well. A team spokesman told reporters that the rookie signal caller does not have a major knee injury and his right knee is sprained.
