The first week of the 2013 NFL season is in the books and was filled with some memorable performances. The highlights started on Thursday night and didn’t end until early Tuesday morning. Fantasy games across the country were decided in many cases by one solid performance from a single player, surely causing those on the losing end of the battles to crack open a bottle or two of ibuprofen.
Let’s take a look at the top performers at each position from Week 1.
Peyton Manning, Broncos – This was a no brainer. Manning threw for 462 yards and seven touchdown passes in a performance for the ages. No other quarterback in the league came close to Manning during opening weekend. Honorable mention: Colin Kaepernick
LeSean McCoy, Eagles – Only three players gained over 100 yards on the ground this past weekend, and one was a quarterback. McCoy out gained the next closest running back by 83 yards, adding a touchdown as a bonus. Final stat line: 31 carries for 184 yards,...
BEST OF MAXIM
According to CSNPhilly.com, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was seen hobbling after last night’s win over the Redskins.
Vick had a great game, but took way too many shots and failed to protect himself, which isn’t a surprise given his injury history.
I find it really interesting that Eagles head coach Chip Kelly and Vick aren’t worried about him getting injured. Sadly enough...
Philadelphia Eagles football is back. It’s a celebration!
It’s finally here. Game day for the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s like Christmas in September.
It’s a great matchup to launch the season’s Monday night games. Chip Kelly’s NFL debut versus the unveiling of Robert Griffin III following 8 months of rehab. Is he truly healthy? Who will prevail?
The innumerable questions...
Robert Griffin hasn’t seen game action in about nine months, and it was quite evident last night. The Washington Redskins had three first quarter turnovers last night in their 33-27 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Yeah the Eagles offense looked good, but the Redskins look awful. If you turn over the ball three times in the first quarter you leave the door open for the opposing...
Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles are going to run a few teams out of the building this season. Vick may not be the most accurate passer in the game, but still might have the strongest arm in the league after this bullet on a rope touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson.

As exciting as Chip Kelly’s offense in Philadelphia may be, it may already be on its way out. The reason? Michael Vick, the player the offense absolutely cannot function without, is taking way too many hits already, and it seems unlikely he’ll last an entire season.
“We saw Vick limping around. Vick's not gonna last,” former general manager Charley Casserly said Tuesday...
From the Eugene Register-Guard, Mark Helfrich's regular Tuesday press conference. He talks about Tennessee's size and speed, and the impact of Chip Kelly's regular season NFL debut with the Philadelphia Eagles, a 33-27 victory in which Kelly's offense scorched Washington for 443 yards.
For this entire season Michael Vick will only be as good as his last play. The unfortunate but undeniable reason for this is Vick’s last play every game actually could be his last play.
Vick just hasn’t been able to stay on the field. Since taking the starting job from Kevin Kolb early in the 2010 season Vick has missed 13 starts with the Eagles because of injury.
Lost in the euphoria of Chip Kelly’s first win as Eagles head coach was the fact that Michael Vick seems determine on injuring himself.
There were several instances of Vick diving head first on runs and trying to block downfield. Not very smart on his part and was one of the reasons he was seen limping into the locker room after the game.
What does Chip Kelly think about this?...
Tremendous lift for the franchise Monday night, getting the "W" over the Redskins... but much needs to be addressed.
In a post-game interview, Mike Vick said the Eagles only unveiled "about 60%" of their "high-octane" offense against the Redskins... But that may be more than enough for the rest of the league to decipher.
I can imagine being a...
Fast. Explosive. Up-tempo. I could go on and on with about how the Philadelphia Eagles offense was lightning quick. Right out of the gate Eagles QB Michael Vick pushed down on the accelerator and Chip Kelly’s offense was striking from all sides of the field. From running back LeSean McCoy’s thundering runs to Vick’s quick passes to DeSean Jackson.
The Washington Redskins could...
Monday night football is back, Fantasy Footballer’s. Two games? Philly/DC and San Diego/Houston both proved highly entertaining and, more importantly, highly profitable for us needing a Fantasy Fix. Pass the Advil, I’ve got a pigskin hangover. I kid, I kid. Personally, I can’t get enough of the NFL. With apologies to Hank Williams Jr, while we may have been ready for some football...
High-speed execution by supreme athletes on offense is the lightning... and the bottle is smart judgement on when to rein it in.
Sometimes you have to throw away a play...and live for the next down. It's a situational thing.
If Chip Kelly can get his boys to take it up a notch from here to there, look out...
You could see the enthusiasm in the Kelly game plan...
