The Headline: Bengals take advantage of depleted Redskins defense to make it two in a row

The Story:

In the home debut of RG3, Redskins fans saw plenty of the big plays that they were hoping for, unfortunately not all of them came from the home team as the Bengals topped the Skins in a shootout. After opening up a 24-7 lead thanks partially to some bizarre plays the Bengals were hoping to go on with the game and turn it into a big win but the Redskins remained patient and were able to claw their way back into the game and turn it into an exciting contest. The combination of Alfred Morris and RG3 combined for 163 yards and two touchdowns but they just could not make enough plays at the end of the game as the Bengals came out on top in one of the more exciting games you will see this season.

Key Stat: BenJarvus Green-Ellis, 1 fumble

In the grand scheme of things this did not play a major role in the outcome of the game but it stood out as it was the first fumble of the Lawfirm’s career despite several hundred carries and a few catches as well.

Key Play: Mohammed Sanu 73 yard touchdown pass to A.J. Green

This one wins solely for how cool it was to watch and it was the opening play of the game. Out of the wildcat formation Sanu took the snap and Green just blew by his defenders and was in the clear to give the Bengals a 7 point lead without having to break a sweat. It signalled the beginning of an afternoon of big plays from both sides and it reminded defenders that the Wildcat isn’t exclusively a running formation.

Man of the Match: Andy Dalton

19/27, 328 yards, 3 touchdowns

An pick-six would have had Bengals fans concerned about how the day was going to go but Dalton shook off whatever doubt there would have been and responded by carrying the Bengals offense all afternoon as he got little to no support from his running game. Dalton threw touchdowns of 48, 6 and 59 yards on the day as he tore up a Redskins defense that was missing Brian Orakpo. When he was facing pressure Dalton maintained his cool and was able to find his open receivers and for a calm and collected performance he wins the man of the match.
