Each week Darren looks back at the weekend that was in the National Football League. These are the three things that most significantly stuck out during Week 4.

The Jets Downfall?

The Jets are a complete mess but I am going to sit here and tell you that Tim Tebow is not the answer at this point. Bringing in Tim Tebow at any point other than training camp does nothing but turn the entire offense into complete upheaval. Tebow and Sanchez are very different QB’s, so the adjustments that the Jets would have to make offensively aren’t something you would want to do mid season. Should Sanchez go down with an injury, then yes, you have to make those adjustments but for god sake you don’t do that voluntarily.

The problems that the New York Jets are facing at the moment don’t rest solely on Mark Sanchez. Yes, the offense looks like pure crap but their best player, Darrelle Revis, whom the entire defense is centered around, is missing and will be here on out. Is it a surprise that the first week he’s missing, the Jets get smacked around by the opposition? It didn’t help that the opposition yesterday looks to be one of the NFL’s elite this season but I believe even the lowly Cleveland Browns might give the Jets a tough time. Look at Pittsburgh in Week 2 versus a Revis-less Jets defense.

The truth is, this isn’t the same team that went to two straight AFC Championship Game and the media circus that is going to be asking “Is It Tebow Time Yet?” week after week is going to bury this team. My gut tells me (and I can’t back this up as to statistically why it should happen) that Rex Ryan will be looking for work come January.

Cardinals vs Vikings = NFC Championship… OK, Maybe Not Quite…

I completely undersold both the Arizona Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings going into this season. Arizona is just putting the right pieces together. To me, this Cardinals team mirrors the type of team that got them to the Super Bowl a few years ago. You don’t expect much out of them but when you see them play, they bring it. Isn’t this exactly what Kevin Kolb did for the Eagles a few years ago when he got a chance? Which is what got him to Arizona in the first place? It’s been quite the story for Kolb so far this season. At the start of September, he was ridiculed by a fellow player, criticized by the media, stripped of his starting job and booed by the hometown fans. Four games later, he has won over his teammates, delivered two remarkable rallies, outplayed Tom Brady in New England, ripped apart his former team and unofficially reclaimed his job.

Minnesota is a team that I thought wouldn’t put up much of a fight in the NFC North. Without question I thought the Packers and Lions would be better than the Vikings and figured the Bears would battle them for and eventually claim #3 spot in the NFC North putting the Vikings in the basement. But there they are, sitting 3-1 atop the NFC North (waiting to see in the Bears can knock of Dallas tonight). Percy Harvin is just a ridiculous player. On Special Teams he’s amazing. As a receiver he’s deadly AND he can even look good as a running back? No words!

Are The Packers Back?

There has been a lot of talk about the Packers this morning and the big question people want to answer is whether or not the Pack is Back. Here is why I say no. The Saints are not a great football team. The defense is terrible and Bree’s is certainly off his game so far. Lambeau Field is a hard place to play yet the Saints were a holding call and a few feet away from beating the Packers. That tells me that the 15-1 Packers from last season aren’t going to show their face this season. They did some good things yesterday but their defense is still going to be the issue. One thing is for sure though: The Packers are in serious trouble if Aaron Rodgers gets hurt. No, I mean SERIOUS trouble.

Jets have one option: Start Tebow

Start Tim Tebow. Not in Wildcat or Razorback or the slot. At quarterback. Not in a couple of weeks. Now. Not because of God or faith or any intangibles attributed to him. Not for any reason except the New York Jets are drowning and need a kick in the butt. This is not about belief at all. This is about doubt -- doubt about whether the Mark Sanchez who helped the Jets to back-to...

Jets guard Matt Slauson: Tim Tebow is not an option

You’ve certainly heard the rumors that the Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is on the hot seat. With that comes the prediction that started in the off-season that Tim Tebow will overthrow the USC-bred signal caller and all will be well in the land. If that happens things for the Jets could in fact get worse. The last time that I checked, the Jets take the field with 11 players at...

Tebow time? Not yet for struggling Jets

NFL fans nationwide caught sight of him on TV last season, leading the Denver Broncos to one improbable comeback after another and then into the playoffs. His force-of-nature style was the talk of the league, with fans ''Tebowing'' at games and parties, in their offices and living rooms. When...

NFL Rumors: Jets QB Mark Sanchez Does Not Feel Threatened By Tim Tebow, But Is He Simply In Denial?

The New York Jets may make a change for change’s sake. It is one of the worst thing that an NFL team can do in this day and age. They panic and make a rash decision based on the poor play of one player or on the desires of the fans. Generally speaking, the say when a coach or general manager listens to the fans, he will soon be sitting with them. But what if it is the owner making...

Report: Jets owner could push for Tebow

Just when New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez received a vote of confidence from his head coach, the team's owner is reportedly pushing for a change, according to an ESPNNewYork.com report. Johnson could reportedly "push" Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum to start backup quarterback Tim Tebow, who came off the bench to lead the Denver Broncos to the playoffs last season...

Woody Johnson could push for Tim Tebow to start

Right after the New York Jets traded for quarterback Tim Tebow this past offseason, owner Woody Johnson was adamant that Mark Sanchez is their starting quarterback going forward. “I’m going to be very clear: Mark Sanchez is our starting quarterback. Period,” Johnson said at the time, per ESPNNewYork.com1. “That’s it. He’s our starting quarterback.” During Johnson...

Santonio Holmes done for season with Lisfranc injury

Things keep getting worse for the New York Jets. First, Darrelle Revis, arguably the league's best CB goes down and is done for the season. Then they get absolutely beat down by the 49ers on Sunday, and now they learn that receiver Santonio Holmes will be out for the rest of the season, not a few weeks as many thought. Although is was floated around as a possibility, no one...

Mark Sanchez: President Of The Future Ex-Jets Of America

"Gang Green" has been turning their fans red for years now. It has been said that the Jets are cursed. The worst part is when they look like they have gotten past all of the negatives and appear to be contenders. Then something inevitably happens, and wipes it all away. This year however, doesn't feel that bad. That is IF you prepared your mind for it. All the signs...

Report: Santonio Holmes '99-Percent Likely Out For Season' Which Further Weakens Wide Receiver Depth

Fans may be clamoring for Tim Tebow to start at quarterback over Mark Sanchez, but the Jets may need him at wide receiver. Jason Cole from Yahoo Sports tweeted that Santonio Holmes has a lisfranc injury on his foot and that he's "99-percent likely out for the season." Jets WR S. Holmes has a lisfranc injury to his left foot. Still unclear if it's broken, but is...

New York Jets add a new wide receiver, calm yourself

Are the New York Jets really setting up QB Mark Sanchez to fail? After learning that veteran WR Santonio Holmes has suffered a Lisfranc injury and will likely be out for the season, the Jets needed to add another receiver to the roster. The usual stable of veteran names cropped up; Plaxico Burress, Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson. New York has reportedly signed, wait for it……...
