The NFL won't allow Colts defensive end Robert Mathis to use his face mask on game days. During training camp practice, Mathis has worn a cagey-looking white face mask that covers up just about everything except his eyes. Mathis used his Twitter account to explain why fans would not see the same protection Sunday against Buffalo and wrote that he would be returning to his ''run of the mill grill.'' Several players around the league including Arizona's Darnell Dockett and the Giants' Justin Tuck have similar face masks. Mathis did not say why the league ruled the way it did. The Associated Press sent an email to the league office requesting comment. Mathis is a five-time Pro Bowl player and is second on the Colts' career sacks list with 91 1/2. --- Online: AP NFL site: http://pro32.ap.org/
