On an interview with ESPN Radio NY, NFL Players Association president Kevin Mawae backed off just a bit from the stance of the union's executive director, DeMaurice Smith, that the chances of a lockout are 14 on a scale of 1-10. ". . .I wouldn't say it's a 14, I'd say it's a 10," Mawae said. ". . .Our goal is to get a deal done but we're 100 percent preparing our guys for a lockout." Mawae also touched on the proposed move from a 16- to 18-game schedule, and how he thinks many fans perceive the labor talks. Mawae had hoped to return for a 17th season in 2010 but had no takers, and he has said he doesn't think that's a coincidence given his position as union president.
