Ravens C Birk fined $5K for removing microphone
Baltimore Ravens center Matt Birk was fined $5,000 by the NFL on Wednesday for removing a microphone from his shoulder pads during his game against the New York Jets.
The NFL requires centers or offensive guards to wear microphones.
Birk plans to appeal the fine, saying that it was a "misunderstanding".
Birk, who went to Harvard, said he didn't know he could remove the microphone.
