Scott Young, a right winger who spent his NHL career with the Whalers, Penguins, Nordiques, Avalanche, Mighty Ducks, Blues and Stars, began his long professional hockey tenure wearing the numbers 27 and 34, but switched to 48 while with the Nordiques and continued to wear that jersey number throughout the large majority of his playing time.

Young, hailing from Massachusetts, was drafted 11th overall in the 1986 NHL draft by the nearby Hartford Whalers. Young would begin playing his 17 season NHL career with that team in 1988. He would play in only seven games as a rookie, at age 20, but would get his chance to play full-time in his sophomore campaign, and would make the most of it. As a 21 year old, Young racked up 59 points in 76 games, during the 1988-89 season.

Although Young could certainly put the "biscuit in the basket" (scoring a regular-season career 342 goals), his real strength was setting up his teammates (415 regular-season career assists).
Young's NHL post-season career consisted of two Stanley Cups (one with the Penguins and one with the Avalanche), where he would accumulate 87 points in 141 games played.

Did you know...............Young won a silver medal as part of the U.S. Hockey Team during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City?
