Nick Scott Excited to Gel With New Secondary: 'Everybody in This Game Can Learn'
USA TODAY Sports

The Bengals are playing things safe with new safety Nick Scott early in the offseason workout period.

The veteran is still recovering from a shoulder injury but he's excited about what he's seen from rookies like Jordan Battle, along with a growing itch to get back out there.

"It definitely adds a layer," Scott said about a new secondary trying to gel. "I would say just being humble and, you know, understanding that, yeah, I'm coming from a different place, and I am a veteran, but everybody in this game can learn. So that's something that I've realized really quick where it's like, you know, I'm with the young guys, but I'm also learning the same stuff they are so I might make a mistake that they have, and vice versa. And that's just part of being a new guy, but you know, I'm just trying to be a leader."

The four-year NFL veteran toppled Cincinnati in the Super Bowl with Los Angeles and now he's on the other side pursuing a title. Scott has 4 career interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and 9 pass breakups.

Battle is another player likely to play some type of role in that goal this season.

"You see his frame and how physical he can be, moves well. So I'm excited about him. I think he's a guy that will be able to help this team in a lot of different ways, whether that be special teams or defensively."
