Jersey City assemblyman Charles Mainor, who is a big Giants fan is in big trouble over an offensive post about a couple of NFC East foes on his Facebook page.

Mainor wrote, "We are not going to just lay down," he wrote. "we come to play. Who the hell do you think we are the DALLAS COWGIRLS OR THOSE GAYBIRDS FROM PHILLY...NO WE ARE THE NEW YORK GIANTS."

Mainor, who is also a police detective, later offered an apology and said that he only wrote up until the cowgirls part and then handed his phone to a friend, who completed the post and hit send.

"I have to take full responsibility because it was under my name," Mainor said. "I have no excuse, other than me not looking before he did send the post."

Mainor also added, "I have very, very close relatives who are gay. I have nothing against them. I'm far from that."

Was this move strategic genius on behalf of Mainor? Insulting the Eagles and Cowboys seems like a sure-fire way to boost approval ratings in New Jersey in a hurry. Will Giants fans make him the next governor? At this point I would be surprised if this guy doesn't roll out to mid-field with the Giants as a honorary captain for the coin toss on Sunday night against the 49ers.
