There is nothing good about being 1-4 on a young 2011 season – especially when four of those losses have been consecutive. With all due respect to the Bills, 49ers, Giants and Falcons the Eagles 1-4 record is misleading as it suggests that Philadelphia was defeated by superior teams. That has not been the case. In every game the Eagles have beaten themselves, ultimately snatching defeat from the jaws of victory by wasting 20-point leads or simply running out of gas in the fourth quarter. While there is plenty of blame to go around, most proverbial fingers seem to be pointed at Andy Reid, who by his own admission should be the focus of the burden. The problem is that admission is only the first step in any kind of healing process – one that has been unfolding for 13 seasons.
“I’ve got no one to blame but myself,” says Andy Reid. “This is my team so the responsibility is mine.” Despite most of his press conferences being unintelligible Shaquille O’Neal-type mumblings, Reid is trying t...

With a growing throng of Eagles fans beginning to demand that coach Andy Reid be held accountable for the performance of the so-called “Dream Team,” quarterback Mike Vick says that the blame should be placed not on the coach, but on the players. “I know it’s not Coach’s fault,” Vick said Wednesday, via CSNPhilly.com. “It’s…
Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid has engaged in discussions with the team's front office hierachy on whether to bring in a defensive consultant if the team continues its struggles, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.
The Eagles dropped to 1-4 by coming up short in a 31-24 loss in Buffalo Sunday. It was just the latest failure in what has quickly become a nightmare season for the “Dream Team.”
Here are the gory stats:
