Found April 11, 2008 on Pro Football Talk:
With the mediocre 40-yard dash generated by Oklahoma Malcolm Kelly and the ill-advised decision to blame the school for his performance, the receiver whom many thought had the best shot at being picked in round one is now likely to fall out of the first round. And with Kelly's stock dropping, some league insiders believe that there now could be no receiver picked in round one this year. Other pass-catchers who are sliding include Limas Sweed of Texas and Early Doucet of LSU. The last time round one expired without a receiver being drafted was in 1990. That year, Alexander Wright, Reggie "The Human Bobblehead" Rembert, and Mike Bellamy were all second-round selections. Two years ago, Santonio Holmes was the only receiver selected in the first round, at No. 25.

  • 3-4 receivers will go in the 1st round...it'd be great if none of them did so Philly could have their pick rd 2, but that wont be the case
  • If only one makes it, it would probably be Devin Thomas - his stock seems to be rising when everyone else is falling (Kelly to slow, Jackson to small.)
  • but you know teams in need of a WR will take risks
  • Limas Sweed
:( why is he sliding?? i've gotta check the link before replying huh LOL! i like him, yeah yeah i hear all talk, but like i just said to someone else.....let em talk. thanks winna!!
  • Probably because of his wrist injuries.
  • *doh* thanks gunna
  • yup wife digs sweed lets see what happens
  • I'm glad his stock is dropping... maybe he'll fall to the second round and we can move up and grab him.
  • i knoi i want the eagles to get limas sweed 2! hes huge and fast just wat they need in the red zone!
  • i think that this is a VERY deep wideout class, but there are no standouts, the best guy isn't THAT much better than the 5th or 6th best, and teams arent so high on a guy that they would take them instead of waiting for limas sweed, malcolm kelly, devin thomas, early doucet, desean jackson, james hardy or mario manningham
  • I like sweed i think he'll be a better version of roy williams wierd hunch
  • this is just not true. you know someone will get a wideout early - it's just a matter of waiting for the lions/jaguars to draft.
  • Im almost certain that we will take a CB/OL in the 1st and take either trade up in the 2nd or late 1st to aquire the WR that we like best. We could even trade up to the top of the 2nd (via Lito trade or a combination of our surplus of picks) and take the best Safety/DE and possibly wait till our pick in the 2nd to take a WR.
