The interim commissioner of the Big East Conference says he expects the search for a new commissioner to take about three months, and says he won't be a candidate for the job.
In a conference call with reporters Wednesday, former Miami Dolphins chief executive Joe Bailey also said he does not plan to be involved in the conference's negotiations for a new television deal, which will begin in September. He says the league's executive committee plans to hire a consultant to do that work.
Bailey, who took over after the resignation of John Marinatto on Monday, says he's seen no rift between the Big East's basketball-centered schools and the conference's football schools.
He says there should not be a public perception that the conference is unraveling.
