Adam Schefter of NFL Network (via PFT) says Brett Favre is leaning toward taking the Packers' $25 million payoff and skipping happily back into retirement. Yeah, at some point it became a $25 million payoff instead of $20. If Brett held out a few more days he might be able to jack that thing up to a cool $30 million with a lifetime supply of Prilosec thrown in. I guess Brett's itch to play wasn't so itchy after all. Of course there's still a chance Brett could change his mind again…he does that from time-to-time. He's taken more positions on his desire to play than John McCain has on off-shore drilling. Whatever Favre decides, don't expect an announcement until the beginning of next week. Favre and the Packers have decided to cool their jets for a few days and let the new Hall-of-Famers have their moment in the sun. Gracious of them, no?
