Oakland Raiders (1-2) at Denver Broncos (1-2) I thought the Raiders were overrated coming into the season and now they’re even more overrated coming off a “surprising” win over the Steelers. Their upset win over the Steelers was not completely shocking given how much the Steelers have sucked over the last year plus on the road. They are -43 on the road in that time period, including playoffs, and +137 at home. They beat Indianapolis by just 3, Kansas City by just 4, and Cleveland by just 3 last year. Given that they were missing James Harrison and Troy Polamalu last weekend, this upset was not shocking. There’s a reason I made it a very small pick even though Pittsburgh had the clear on paper advantage. The Raiders are one of 15 1-2 teams in the NFL right now. Some of them are going to make the playoffs, some of them are going to be terrible. I think this team is one of the latter. Remember, they lost 35-13 to the Dolphins just 2 weeks ago. Their defense has been exactly as you’d ex...

Oakland Raiders preparing for Peyton Manning and Denver Broncos offense

After the Oakland Raiders victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, they will try to make it two in a row against AFC West rival Denver Broncos. That means preparing for soon to be Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning. “He’s Peyton Manning; he’s a Hall of Fame quarterback,” Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said. “There’s no way that we’re going to in any...

Offensive Game Grades: Week 3 vs. Pittsburgh

Last Sunday, the Oakland Raiders not only beat the Steelers, but also gave a big boost to their playoffs hopes. This time, the offense was the one who kept the team in the game and eventually put the Silver&Black in the lead. Here are this week’s offensive grades: Quarterback: Carson Palmer had his best performance [...]

Oakland Raiders sign DE Andre Carter and release T Joe Barksdale

The Oakland Raiders have signed defensive end Andre Carter. Carter is an 11 year veteran that has spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins, and New England Patriots. In order to make room on the roster, the Raiders waived 2011 NFL Draft third round pick Joe Barksdale. “Like I said, it was a long battle,” Carter said of his quad injury. “It was such...

Denver appliance store offering free appliances if Broncos shut out Raiders

The Broncos have not been very good defensively to start out the season. They haven’t really played well in general, but their offense has scored over 25 points per game through the first three weeks. However, their defense has allowed more than three touchdowns per game, which has resulted in a 1-2 record. Appliance Factory Outlet in Denver has decided to roll the dice on the...

Denver coach John Fox says the NFL has denied Broncos linebacker Joe Mays' appeal and he will miss Sunday's game against the Raiders. Mays was fined $50,000 and suspended for one game for his hit on Texans quarterback Matt Schaub last Sunday that sent Schaub's helmet flying and took off a chunk of his left ear. The Broncos appealed the suspension but the NFL denied...

Willis McGahee Probable For Week 4

Denver running back Willis McGahee (ribs) is listed as probable for Week 4, according to the Denver Post.Fantasy Spin:McGahee left Sunday's game against Houston with injured ribs but he's been fine in practice this week. Even if he wears protection for his ribs he should still be fine to start as a RB2 in 12-team leagues.

State of the AFC West: Week 3 Review, Week 4 Preview

After three weeks of play, the AFC West still looks like any of the four teams could end up winning it. To be honest, nobody has looked good for four quarters. There have been bright spots (especially last week for the Oakland Raiders), but not many. Right now, I wouldn’t argue with anyone who said [...]

Raiders-Broncos Preview

After opening against three stout defenses, Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos seem to have a more favorable matchup in Week 4. The Broncos' defense, however, might be short-handed, and that could lead to problems against an Oakland Raiders offense that appears to be finding its stride. The Broncos try to avoid losing their third in a row Sunday in an AFC West showdown with...
