The Oakland Raiders concluded their 2012 training camp today in Napa, California. The team will now head back to Alameda to resume their regular practice schedule. As Oakland prepares for the Detroit Lions on Saturday night, head coach Dennis Allen was pleased with the effort in camp. “I thought it was good work,” Allen said. “I thought we got a chance to get better. Our guys worked extremely hard. We’ve still got a long way to go on a lot of things that we’ve got to continue to improve on. I thought it was a good foundation for what we’re trying to build.” Throughout training camp the Raiders have been riddled with injuries. From linebacker Aaron Curry, to wide receiver Denarius Moore, to center Stefen Wisniewski, the Raiders have gotten a chance to see younger players make strides in camp and preseason games. None of those projected starters will play in the third preseason game. “Yeah, I think there’s been good competition throughout camp at different positions,” Allen...

Oakland Raiders Vs Detroit Lions Third Preseason Game Preview

The Oakland Raiders will take on the challenge of slowing down an explosive Detroit Lions offense in the third preseason game tomorrow. With the third preseason game widely regarded as a dress rehearsal for the regular season, the Raiders will be tested on both sides of the ball. Because the first team offense and defense will play little if any in the last preseason game...

Raiders break camp after more than 3 weeks in Napa

Carson Palmer is running out of time to get the Oakland Raiders first-team offense into the end zone in the preseason. The Raiders (tied for No. 23 in the AP Pro32) broke camp Thursday after spending more than three weeks in Napa, still looking for their first win and first-team touchdown of the preseason. Palmer has been able to move the Oakland offense at times in the first two...

Does Oakland really have wide receiver depth?

The talk after Louis Murphy was traded to the Carolina Panthers was that the Oakland Raiders have one of the best receiving cores in the NFL, but injuries have arisen to show that the depth of this Oakland Raiders team that they thought they had, is far from conclusive. When you look at the relative [...]

Carson Palmer not concerned with the Raiders’ offense

AP Quarterback Carson Palmer isn’t worried about the Raiders offense as the preseason winds down.  He says they just need to clean some things up. “Obviously we haven’t done what we expected to do, but it’s not a concern,” Palmer said Tuesday via The Sacramento Bee. “We just need to clean some things up. We’ve made a handful of mistakes and hurt ourselves, but it...

2012 NFL season: No More Excuses for Carson Palmer

Carson Palmer has been given riches he did not earn. Carson Palmer was given the title of elite, yet he is consistently mediocre. His failures in Cincinnati were charged to the game because of the “environment”, but now it is time for the Palmer to earn his keep. Since day one Palmer has been given things he did not earn. The quarterback was given the Bengal’s starting quarterback...

Carson Palmer believes that Chad Johnson will bounce back.

For seven years quarterback Carson Palmer played the straight-laced family man to Chad Johnson’s nutty free spirit in their rendition of the comedy The Odd Couple. If you looked closely during their heyday Palmer was in on more than a couple of Johnson’s showboating antics and pranks. So it’s no surprise that Palmer harbors no ill-will towards him and in fact supports him...

Oakland Raiders’ Carson Palmer not Worried About Offensive Production in Preseason

As the Oakland Raiders prepare to play the Detroit Lions, quarterback Carson Palmer is not concerned about the offensive production of the first team thus far in preseason. Maurice Jones-Drew wearing Silver and Black?

I know it sounds insane for the Oakland Raiders to make a play at Maurice Jones-Drew who is in a contract dispute with the Jacksonville Jaguars over money, but the Raiders backfield is lacking behind Darren McFadden. Injury issues with Taiwan Jones and Mike Goodson are not the type of things you want to hear [...]
