According to various reports along with Adam Schefter on Twitter this morning, free agent QB Matt Leinart is expected to sign with the Oakland Raiders later this week. It is being reported that Leinart has a visit scheduled with the Raider this week and the team is fully expected to ink a deal with the southpaw quarterback.
The signing of Leinart would reunite his with a fellow USC Heisman Trophy quarterback, Carson Palmer as well as the pair of Leinart and a former coach. Former Houston Texans coach Gregg Knapp was hired this offseason by the Oakland Raiders and was named as the team’s offensive coordinator.
It is expected that Leinart would assume the duties as the Raiders number two quarterback ahead of second-year Ohio State quarterback, Terrelle Pryor.
