Football fans across the world, especially those of the Oakland Raiders received some great news on Monday when it was reported that injured Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was released from the hospital. The former first round speedster spent Sunday night in the Eden Medical Center after the jarring hit from Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Mundy in the end zone. On the play, Mundy was not penalized for the hit that appeared to strike the defenseless receiver square on the jaw with his helmet.
Heyward-Bey appeared to be knocked unconscious by the hit and remained on the ground until he was carted off the field and transported to the hospital. After a night of observation it was reported that he was home resting diagnosed with a concussion and neck injury. On Monday, Mundy reached out to the injured receiver and confirmed that Heyward-Bey was resting at home and is expected to make a full recovery.
Of course, the play was but one of many controversial calls or non-calls made across the league by the replacement officials. However, at the real-time speed of the game, there is no way to tell of Mundy would have been flagged by the regular officials. At this point, even though the play was not penalized, it is expected that the league will fine the Steelers safety for the play.

Sunday’s upset win over the Steelers was something that very few expected to happen. The Oakland Raiders were coming off of two very disappointing efforts to start the season, and what they had shown to that point did not seem to match up to the tough Steelers defense. While it was not the prettiest of [...]
LOOKS ABOUT RIGHT
What you’re about to see is the wedding ceremony of Oakland Raiders fan “Gorilla Rilla”. And if you just take a moment and think about every picture you’ve ever seen of Raiders fans at a Raiders’ game and visualize them at a wedding. That’s what went down.
So in other words, it’s exactly what you’d expect to see at a Raiders fan’s wedding.
First, we have the...
Last Sunday, the Oakland Raiders not only beat the Steelers, but also gave a big boost to their playoffs hopes. This time, the offense was the one who kept the team in the game and eventually put the Silver&Black in the lead. Here are this week’s offensive grades: Quarterback: Carson Palmer had his best performance [...]
A lot of people may not realize it, but the NFL actually has separate balls for kicking and passing. Quarterbacks do not throw the same footballs that kickers and punters kick and vice versa. Casual fans watching at home have no reason to know the difference, but one might think this information would be important for the officials, right? Not the replacement refs, of course.
Remember that roster spot opened a few hours ago by the departure of offensive lineman Joseph Barksdale? Well, it’s not there anymore. The Oakland Raiders have announced the signing of pro-bowler defensive end Andre Carter, conceivably getting the best player that was still on the market. Carter to the Raiders was not a out-of-nowhere deal. [...]
The Broncos have not been very good defensively to start out the season. They haven’t really played well in general, but their offense has scored over 25 points per game through the first three weeks. However, their defense has allowed more than three touchdowns per game, which has resulted in a 1-2 record.

Offensive tackle Joseph Barksdale has been released by the Oakland Raiders, according to Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com. Barksdale, a third-round pick in 2011, was inactive for each of the first three games this season. He joins fellow third-round pick cornerback DeMarcus Van **** and fourth-round pick defensive back Chimdi Chekwa as players the Raiders have parted ways with...

Still not sold on this team as being anything better than one of the best teams in the league. Their upset win over the Steelers was not completely shocking given how much the Steelers have sucked over the last year plus on the road. They are -43 on the road in that time period, including playoffs, and +137 at home. They beat Indianapolis by just 3...
Defensive end Andre Carter was signed by the Oakland Raiders, who also added wide receiver Tori Gurley to their practice squad. Carter was a first-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2001 and has 76 sacks in 163 career games. He was with the Patriots in 2011, registering four sacks at the New York Jets on Nov. 13 and had 10 for the season when he was placed on injured reserve...
The play of Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer this past weekend can not be understated, but the defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers certainly helped the veteran quarterback out by declaring what they were going to do several times during the game pre snap.
You are likely reading quite a bit today about how "predictable" the defense was on Sunday, but most of the...
Below is the week 3 offensive line breakdown for the Pittsburgh Steelers game against the Oakland Raiders. Before we get to the grades, it should be noted that the pass protection as a whole in this game was excellent. Part of that stems from the concerted effort to focus on a shorter passing game and get the ball out the hand of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. That being said, there...
