The Oakland Raiders have signed offensive lineman Nick Howell and released fullback Tre'Shawn Robinson to make room for the signing. Howell is expected to provide depth during training camp with little chance to make the final roster.
Howell was signed by the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent after the 2010 NFL Draft. The 6-5, 300 pound offensive tackle out of USC did not make the Titans and bounced around to the 49ers and Saints, before getting his chance with the Raiders.
To make room for Howell, the Raiders released full back Tre'Shawn Robinson. Robinson was signed as an undrafted free agent this May out of Idaho. After fullback Marcel Reece signed his tender to come back to the Raiders for 2012 and the team signed Owen Schmitt as a free agent, Robinson's time as a Raider was running out.
The Raiders will start a three day mandatory mini-camp Tuesday June 12 through Thursday June 14, followed by training camp in late July.
