Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie and head coach Dennis Allen made it through the first week 2013 NFL Free Agency without making any major moves on the open market, but did manage to strengthen the struggling pass rush.
Former Chicago Bears outside linebacker Nick Roach signed a multi-year contract with compensation ranging from $3 to $4 million per season, the team announced Friday morning. Roach comes off a career year, racking up 66 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 4 passes deflected and one forced fumble in 2012. He also collected 15 tackles against the Arizona Cardinals near the end of the season and could replace Rolando McClain.
Kevin Burnett, another free agent linebacker who was recently recently by the Miami Dolphins, was also added to the Raiders’ new linebacker corps on Sunday. The 6-3, 240-pound inside linebacker has appeared in 120 contests (59 starts) and totaled 523 tackles with 17.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles and four interceptions (returned for 104 yards and t...

Two more starters and picks from the '09 draft have vacated for greener (Cha Ching) pastures. The Oakland Raiders have brought six new faces as part of this year’s free agency period, and all of them are members of the defense. Vic Tafur reports that the Oakland Raiders have signed free agent DT Vance Walker on Monday.
Walker, 25, was with the Falcons last season and was actually a pretty solid player for them. He’s much better run defender than an interior pass-rusher.
The Raiders have already lost Desmond Bryant to the Browns and it’s unlikely that Richard Seymour will be re-signed. Add in fact...
The wheels are apparently in motion finally for Rolando McClain’s departure from the Raiders.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Raiders have given permission to McClain’s agent to seek a trade for his client:
McClain’s agent, Pat Dye Jr. of Sports Trust Advisors, recently requested the green light from Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie to shop McClain, the...

The Oakland Raiders have announced the signing of free agent LB Kevin Burnett.
Burnett, 30, was recently released by the Dolphins as the worked to revamp their linebacking corps. Last year, Burnett was rated as the No. 4 best 4-3 outside linebacker, so this could be a great addition for a Raiders defense that had shed a lot of talent in the past two years.
We had Burnett listed as...
Seven days into NFL free agency, the Raiders have almost entirely focused on defense. That holds true for the team’s most recent two signings: linebacker Kevin Burnett, who signed on Sunday, and defensive tackle Vance Walker who signed on Monday.
This trend comes with good reason. The Raiders had a lot of problems last season. The biggest problem was probably Rolando McClain and...
