Free agent linebacker Phillip Wheeler announced on his Twitter page that he was heading to Oakland to visit with the Raiders.
The 27 year-old Wheeler has been playing for the Indianapolis Colts for the past four seasons, and put up some nice numbers in 2011 with 84 tackles, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble.
Wheeler would help the Raiders add depth at linebacker, as well as participate on special teams.
The Oakland Raiders made some serious moves for Terrelle Pryor, was it worth it? Well, we all know Carson Palmer is the head of the class in Oakland with experience and his ability to be a good pocket passer, but what he is not known for is his scrambling or mobility. Enter Terrelle Pryor. He
The Oakland Raiders announced they have traded OG/OT Bruce Campbell to the Carolina Panthers for; Running Back Mike Goodson. I am personally a big fan of this trade. It gives us some much-needed Running Back depth. Second-year RB Taiwan Jones has potential, but he is young, and frankly… his running-style is not compatible with the [...]
According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, the Oakland Raiders have signed free agent linebacker Philip Wheeler to a one-year deal.
Wheeler has been with the Indianapolis Colts for the past four seasons and they were hoping to re-sign him, in order to use him as an outside linebacker in their new 3-4 scheme.
Wheeler will now head west and hope to make an impact for the silver and black.
Former Colts LB Philip Wheeler visited the Raiders today for a workout. He is a 4 year veteran and former 3rd round pick by Indianapolis. He has played in 61 games and started 24 including starting 11 last season for Indianapolis.
Wheeler is 27 years old and is listed as being 6'2" and 245 lbs. He played mostly weakside linebacker which was Raiders' Aaron Curry...
Our own Nate Dunlevy says that the news about season ticket renewals was a clear message to owner Jim Irsay:
Going into last season, the Colts had a waiting list of more than 9,000. That vast majority of those on the list should be able to claim seats this season. For long-time season ticket holders (like myself), the exodus represents an opportunity to improve seat location in...
The Panthers announced they've traded running back Mike Goodson to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for offensive tackle Bruce Campbell.
Goodson, who ran for 501 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons with Carolina, became expendable after the team signed free agent running back Mike Tolbert earlier this offseason.
The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Campbell played in four games for...
Drew Stanton knows what it's like to get in on the ground floor of a team rebuild. He also knows what it's like to take a backseat to a number one draft pick:
“I think that allows us to all grow together as a core unit,” Stanton said. “I was part of that with (Lions coach) Jim Schwartz when he got to Detroit. Our offense was able to progress over three years. You...
Dwight Freeney's financial adviser and her lover were arrested on charges of stealing $2.2 million from the Indianapolis Colts' defensive end.
Eva Weinberg and Michael Stern were arrested last week by the FBI on federal wire fraud charges.
Henry Bell, an attorney for Stern, denied that his client and Weinberg stole the money from Freeney.
Weinberg, who served as Freeney...
No, this isn't a lesson in geometry despite the reference to Pythagoras. Hefty math is involved however. You've been warned.
Nate Dunlevy tackles Bill James' famous concept of pythagorean wins as it pertains to our Colts.
Let's start with an explanation:
The concept is simple, even though the math is tricky. The idea is that over time, a team's point differential...
Paul Kuharsky sees more underappreciated vets with upside in the Colts' future:
What’s next: I expect more role players like Zbikowski and McGlynn, more castoffs like Justice and Stanton and more guys who are presumed finished by a lot of teams, like Avery. They are all guys who didn’t cost much but who have upside and can help, at least as role players. And if they don’t...
