Last week: 31 (+0) Record: 1-2 Still not sold on this team as being anything better than one of the best teams in the league. Their upset win over the Steelers was not completely shocking given how much the Steelers have sucked over the last year plus on the road. They are -43 on the road in that time period, including playoffs, and +137 at home. They beat Indianapolis by just 3, Kansas City by just 4, and Cleveland by just 3 last year. Given that they were missing James Harrison and Troy Polamalu last weekend, this upset was not shocking. There’s a reason I made it a very small pick even though Pittsburgh had the clear on paper advantage. The Raiders are one of 15 1-2 teams in the NFL right now. Some of them are going to make the playoffs, some of them are going to be terrible. I think this team is one of the latter. Studs C Stefen Wisniewski: Did not allow a pressure on 37 pass block snaps, run blocked for 82 yards and a touchdown on 7 attempts RG Mike Brisiel: Did not allow a pre...

Offensive Game Grades: Week 3 vs. Pittsburgh

Last Sunday, the Oakland Raiders not only beat the Steelers, but also gave a big boost to their playoffs hopes. This time, the offense was the one who kept the team in the game and eventually put the Silver&Black in the lead. Here are this week’s offensive grades: Quarterback: Carson Palmer had his best performance [...]

Shane Lechler says a replacement referee wouldn’t let him use a kicking ball

A lot of people may not realize it, but the NFL actually has separate balls for kicking and passing. Quarterbacks do not throw the same footballs that kickers and punters kick and vice versa. Casual fans watching at home have no reason to know the difference, but one might think this information would be important for the officials, right? Not the replacement refs, of course. During...

Raiders ink defensive end Andre Carter

Remember that roster spot opened a few hours ago by the departure of offensive lineman Joseph Barksdale? Well, it’s not there anymore. The Oakland Raiders have announced the signing of pro-bowler defensive end Andre Carter, conceivably getting the best player that was still on the market. Carter to the Raiders was not a out-of-nowhere deal. [...]

Denver appliance store offering free appliances if Broncos shut out Raiders

The Broncos have not been very good defensively to start out the season. They haven’t really played well in general, but their offense has scored over 25 points per game through the first three weeks. However, their defense has allowed more than three touchdowns per game, which has resulted in a 1-2 record. Appliance Factory Outlet in Denver has decided to roll the dice on the...

Raiders cut another 2011 draft pick

Offensive tackle Joseph Barksdale has been released by the Oakland Raiders, according to Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com. Barksdale, a third-round pick in 2011, was inactive for each of the first three games this season. He joins fellow third-round pick cornerback DeMarcus Van **** and fourth-round pick defensive back Chimdi Chekwa as players the Raiders have parted ways with...

This Sunday the Oakland Raiders will be going up against long time rival, the Denver Broncos. The Raiders lead this series overall with a record of 53 wins, 39 losses and 1 tie. The Raiders hope to make that 54 wins this Sunday, but the Broncos will do their best to keep it from happening. [...]

Raiders sign DE Andre Carter

Defensive end Andre Carter was signed by the Oakland Raiders, who also added wide receiver Tori Gurley to their practice squad. Carter was a first-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2001 and has 76 sacks in 163 career games. He was with the Patriots in 2011, registering four sacks at the New York Jets on Nov. 13 and had 10 for the season when he was placed on injured reserve...

Steelers Defense Predictable? Against The Raiders They Were Several Times Pre Snap

The play of Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer this past weekend can not be understated, but the defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers certainly helped the veteran quarterback out by declaring what they were going to do several times during the game pre snap. You are likely reading quite a bit today about how "predictable" the defense was on Sunday, but most of the...

Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos: Week 4 NFL Pick

Oakland Raiders (1-2) at Denver Broncos (1-2) I thought the Raiders were overrated coming into the season and now they’re even more overrated coming off a “surprising” win over the Steelers. Their upset win over the Steelers was not completely shocking given how much the Steelers have sucked over the last year plus on the road. They are -43 on the road in that time period,...

Steelers Offensive Line Breakdown – Oakland Raiders – Week 3

Below is the week 3 offensive line breakdown for the Pittsburgh Steelers game against the Oakland Raiders. Before we get to the grades, it should be noted that the pass protection as a whole in this game was excellent. Part of that stems from the concerted effort to focus on a shorter passing game and get the ball out the hand of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. That being said, there...
