TEAMS: New England Patriots, Penn State Nittany Lions
By Paul KenyonThe Patriots will hold practice Thursday afternoon without their offensive coordinator.
Bill O'Brien apparently is in State College, Pa., interviewing for the Penn State job. There have been multiple reports that O'Brien has scheduled a meeting with Penn State officials. Asked if he could comment any further on O'Brien's situation, Belichick simply shook his head no.
O'Brien, who like outgoing Penn State coach Joe Paterno is a Brown grad and former player, also is mentioned as a candidate for the head coaching job with Jacksonville.
Belichick was willing to comment on the announcement made earlier Thursday that rookie tackle Marcus Cannon has been voted the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award. Cannon spent part of the year receiving cancer treatments.

Coach Bill Belichick explains why OC Bill O’Brien has done a good job for the Patriots
As we’ve talked about over the past few days, Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien is in the news. His name was thrown around for the Penn State opening and now the Jaguars would like to speak with them for their head-coach opening.
Of course, his goal is to be an NFL head coach more than a college coach, though it would seem the Penn State job drew some interest from...

The 13-3 New England Patriots enter the AFC Playoffs as the No. 1 seed. Once again, head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady are the dynamic duo putting the Patriots in prime position for a playoff run. But they can’t do it all by themselves. Grading the New England Patriots' Performance in the 2011 NFL Regular Season
At this point, the 2011 NFL season has been an extremely successful one for the New England Patriots as they posted a 13-3 record and earned themselves the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski had record-breaking seasons while New England’s defense performed as poorly as we have ever seen in the Bill Belichick era.
While taking all of that into consideration...

Patriots practice again on the Gillette Stadium field without some of their stars
Just like yesterday, the Patriots practiced on the Gillette Stadium field, doing so in helmets-and-shells. Coach Bill Belichick called it a good day of work and said he hoped for the same today.
What did we see out there?
The same five players who were out yesterday were also missing today. QB Tom Brady, nursing a sprained left shoulder, was tops on that list, and he’s making...
