Found October 28, 2013 on Fightin For Philly:
Ok. The Giants were winless when the Eagles defeated them….now they have 2 wins? This game should have been an Eagles win. I said on My Things to Look For the Eagles need the score points to win. What did they do? Score no points… The defense for the 2nd straight week held an opponent under 20 points. All they needed was the offense to score points. And for the 2nd straight week, the offense didn’t score.   Offense Well, Vick came back…and then he left….He re-injured his left hamstring during the game. He’s out and could be out for a while. While Vick sat on the bench looking disinterested, QB Matt Barkley took his place and didn’t perform well. He threw an interception and fumbled away a red zone chance. Shady McCoy only had 48 yards rushing while the offense itself had only 200 yards of offense. After the first 4 weeks, they scored over 30 points a game. Over the last two games, they scored only 3 points. 3 Points. Grade: D   Defense The defense did its job. They held the Giants to 4 field goals and no touchdowns. Any team in the NFL would love that. LB Mychal Kendricks led the team with 12 tackles. No 100 yard rusher or receiver. For two straight games, it could have been 40-0. But, the defense gave the Eagles a chance to win. But, the lack of offense prevented that. This defense has done well these last 4 games. They have to continue to do well and more. Grade: B   Special Teams You got the only points for the Eagles. Congrats! Grade: A   The Team We didn’t expect for this game to be a division race. But, they are. Are they ready for that? Nope. It would be fun and good for morale. But, this team had to fill in needs to be a complete team. But, they are closer than I than thought from being a playoff team. The pieces are here…well most of them. It will be an interesting 2nd half of the season. Sunday, inconsistent play doomed the Eagles. Grade: C+

Barkley Shows Promise in a Rough Outing vs. Giants

The buildup before today’s contest against the Giants showed promise for the Eagles. After an inept offensive performance against the Cowboys that featured three Matt Barkley interceptions, Michael Vick announced he would take back the reigns as the starter. This brought hope that Vick would jump start the typically explosive offense that averaged the nearly 25 points per game...

Nick Foles Returns to Practice, Splitting Reps With Matt Barkley

Eagles quarterback Nick Foles returns to practice as offensive coordinator Bill Davis looks on. After suffering a concussion against the Dallas Cowboys on October 20th at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles has been medically cleared to return to practice.  The second-year University of Arizona product split first team repetitions in practice with...

Monday Review: Defense shining as offense stalls

Matt Barkley fumbles in the second quarter of the Eagles 15-7 loss to the Giants on Sunday. Photo Courtesy of Everyone got so caught up in the comments. Phil Simms ranked the Eagles’ offense as 60th of 64 offenses and defenses combined among the 32 teams. Merril Hoge called it the “most vanilla” offense in the game. If the only two games of the season you watched were...

NFL Injury News:Philadelphia Eagles remove QB Mike Vick, insert Matt Barkley

The Philadelphia Eagles are trailing the New York Giants 12-0 in the first half. Philadelphia has removed veteran quarterback Mike Vick from the game and replaced him with rookie QB Matt Barkley. Vick and Eagles offense was horribly ineffective in early possessions, managing just one first down with Vick under center. Vick has completed six of nine attempts for only 31 yards and...

Michael Vick leaves with hamstring injury, Matt Barkley replaces him

Michael Vick is out with an injury. Tell me something new. Vick left the Philadelphia Eagles’ game against the New York Giants on Sunday after re-aggravating his hamstring injury. Ironically, Vick left the team’s Week 5 win over the Giants with a hamstring injury and was returning to action after missing the team’s last two […]

Barkley, Foles Or Vick: The Least Bad Answer

Paging Dennis Dixon So Michael Vick left today's game with the hamstring pop, as we learned afterward, and while it hardly seems possible that next week's game in Oakland matters for any reason, it's the NFL; every game matters, if only because there aren't many of them. But the simple math of the NFL is this: if you don't have a quality QB, you don't win...

The Quarterback Position: What Can We Learn During Second Half of Season?

Who would have thought that through the midpoint of the season, we’d be complaining about the Eagles offense and praising the defense? Not me, but that’s just where we are right now. The Eagles hit the halfway point with a record of 3-5 and a ton of questions about their offense. Although the Eagles’ ground game has struggled in recent weeks, the biggest question mark is around...

Struggling Eagles search for answers on offense

All that quarterback uncertainty has stifled the Philadelphia Eagles' offense. Michael Vick's return from a hamstring injury lasted less than a half, and coach Chip Kelly doesn't expect him to play at Oakland (3-4) next Sunday. Nick Foles took the ImPACT test on Monday, a first step toward returning from a concussion. But Kelly didn't have the results, so his status...

Defenses to Stream in Week 9

If you implemented the wait on a defense plan, then you may be looking for a defense to play this week.  I will look at 4 defenses that could be good plug and play options this week: Cowboys vs Vikings The Vikings are a mess and no matter who is playing QB, they will make mistakes.  Even though they were torched last week they did cause 4 turnovers.  Vikings don’t have...

Eagles QB Vick leaves game against Giants

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was pulled Sunday against the New York Giants in his first start since he injured his left hamstring on Oct. 6. Vick was replaced by Matt Barkley late in the second quarter. Vick was 6 of 9 for 31 yards and threw an interception on Philadelphia's drive of the game. He had little mobility and did not appear close to recovered. He missed...

Would you take Chip back? How close is Mark Helfrich to earning that lifetime contract?

Down to their third team quarterback, banged up and undermanned on both sides of the ball, Chip Kelly's Philadelphia Eagles fell to 3-5 after a 15-7 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday. The Eagle offense didn't score a touchdown, the Birds' lone score coming on a fumble return by linebacker Najee Goode late in the fourth quarter. Bird droppings: With two Eagle quarterbacks...
