The Philadelphia Eagles had all the makings of a Super Bowl contender in 2011 but for many reasons finished a nondescript 8-8.  They blew five fourth quarter leads, had a turnover ratio of -14, had a hard time adapting to Defensive Coordinator Juan Castillo’s defensive scheme, and had very important WR DeSean Jackson acting like a primadonna when he didn’t get a new contract.  This year, they know what has to be done to get the franchise back to the top of the NFC East but the main question is “Can they do it?”  The Offensive Line also has had moments of frustration and this year they lost possibly the best Left Tackle in the NFL in Jason Peters.  The 2012 version of the Offensive Line looks like it will be at LT Demetress Bell, LG Evan Mathis, C Jason Kelce, RG Danny Watkins and RT Todd Herremans. Left Tackle Demetress Bell was taken in the 7th round of the 2010 NFL Draft by Buffalo.  He was a fairly sought after Left Tackle and was very highly pursued by Philly after Jason Peters...

Tra Thomas emotional in retirement from Eagles (VIDEO)

Former Eagles offensive lineman Tra Thomas retired as a Philadelphia Eagle on Thursday. Words simply weren’t enough to express how much the honor meant to Thomas, who expressed deep appreciation for the team and his former coaches Andy Reid and Juan Castillo. There is no point in telling you what Thomas said. You just need to watch. Philadelphia made the right move on this one...

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: “Twenty-one thousand? I ain't even got that

Take it to the streets DRC. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie responded to the fine handed down to him by Commissioner Roger Goodell by giving an old street axiom, “I ain’t even got that.” We have to laugh; it’s just that funny when you hear a rich guy say that. According NFL, Rodgers-Cromartie “unnecessarily struck a defenseless player in the head and neck area.” Cromartie...

Quarterback Nick Foles: Eagles’ Trade Stock or All Star?

Eagles’ coach Andy Reid believes Nick Foles will be a valuable asset to the team in the coming days. The only question is whether or not the value will come from Foles in midnight green or on the trading block? Foles turned heads in his preseason debut against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a fantastic rally. He also practices with the No. 2 offense while the injured Mike Kafka...

Eagles facing challenges everywhere this season

With little talk about how great they are going to be in the upcoming season, the Philadelphia Eagles already have taken a different approach. The challenges haven't changed, though. Not even close. In fact, the obstacles placed in their way heading into the 2012 schedule might be more formidable than the self-created hurdles of a year ago. You remember the Dream Team proclamations...

Eagles RB Chris Polk Might Move To Fullback

Four months ago, former University of Washington running back Chris Polk was considered among the Top 5 backs available in the 2012 NFL Draft. Polk had gained over 4,000 yards on the ground during his 40-game college career and, at 5-foot-10 and 215 pounds, ran a sub-4.6 time in the 40-yard dash. If it was a surprise when Polk lasted until Day Three of the draft, and it was downright...

Rodgers-Cromartie on $21,000 fine: “I ain’t even got that!”

Eagles corner back Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie received a $21,000 fine for leaving his feet and striking Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich in the head/neck area “unnecessarily.” When asked about the fine, Rodgers-Cromartie responded: “I ain’t even got that!” It’s safe to say he was probably joking, and had this to say about the hit: “I won’t hit him no more, I...

The Philadelphia Eagles Best Corner Is… Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie?

Last year the Philadelphia Eagles acquired Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie last season via a trade with Arizona Cardinals.  He was supposed to help form a core of cornerbacks, along with free agent acquisition Nnamdi Asomugha and Asante Samuel, that were incomprehensibly unbeatable for the Eagles.  Alas, after a bombed season, Samuel was traded and Rodgers-Cromartie slid to...

Philadelphia Eagles: Biggest Home Game of the Year

I’ve watched enough Eagles football in the Reid era to realize that coach’s style can be termed, “Inadvertant Trial and Error.” Despite having led Philadelphia into the playoffs in nine of his first 13 seasons, Reid’s record on opening day is 6-7.   Among those six wins, the Eagles didn’t beat a single playoff team (2000 Cowboys, 2004 Giants, 2006 Texans, 2008 Rams...

Eagles CB Nnamdi Asomugha To Play Monday Night Vs Patriots

When Andy Reid ran through the players who won’t be on the field Monday night against the Patriots, one name he left out was Nnamdi Asomugha. Asomugha participated in practice Friday and Saturday after suffering a lip laceration and sore neck in a collision with Nate Allen Monday afternoon. “The day that I came out here and practiced in the beginning, I thought that was going to...

Mike Kakfa’s fractured left hand could open doors

There are two ways to look at Mike Kakfa’s fractured left hand. His absence allows rookie Nick Foles and veteran Trent Edwards to get more playing time and to compete for a job that Kafka has not look capable of filling. Vick will play at least the first half when the Eagles travel to New England on Monday for their second preseason game. Foles will replace Vick under center, followed...

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie fined $21k for hit on Leftwich, says he doesn’t have the money

AP Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was fined $21,000 by the NFL today for launching himself into Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich and delivering a helmet to helmet hit last week. Rodgers-Cromartie repsonded to the news of his fine by saying he doesn’t have the money. “Twenty-one thousand. I ain’t even got that,” Rodgers-Cromartie said, hopefully...

Eagles CB Dominique Rodger-Cromartie Fined $21K For Hit

When the Eagles and Steelers squared off in Week 1 of preseason action, Byron Leftwich took a nasty shot (or shiver?) from Philly cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie that drew a well-deserved flag for a late hit. Literally the only person who thought the shot was OK was DRC himself, and now the league's sided with the rest of us, fining the cornerback $21,000 for his hit on...

Mike Adams & Jonathan Dwyer Back In Pads Thursday

Some good news to finally pass along on Thursday as Bob Labriola is reporting via Twitter that rookie left tackle Mike Adams is back in pads today after suffering a sprained knee Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. The speculation was that Adams might not work at all this week, but according to Mark Kaboly on Twitter, Adams is working as the second team left tackle today...
